    Review: Thanos Imperative: Devastation #1

As the galaxy still recovers from war with the Cancerverse, Cosmo assembles a team of cosmic heavy hitters to quash the new threat of Blastaar.

    The Good

This whole issue being narrated by Cosmo's swarthy brand of Russian accent made it twice as enjoyable as would've been otherwise. Not only is just plain funny to "hear" this mutt talking about such heady cosmology, it also added a much needed humorous contrast to balance all the somber galactic drama without tipping everything over into parody. And the somber galactic drama is pretty strong too!

    The Bad

The old adage of "if ain't broke, don't fix it" applies to the rendering of Silver Surfer. A lot of coloring tools were used to make him look spacier and more futuristic, or what have you, but the result's just a lot more cluttered and less iconic than the old school pen-and-ink style would've been. Also, considering how nearly every cosmic character has gotten a much-needed visual revamp, I think Blastaar could've really benefited with a new costume more in line with the look of other aliens.

    The Verdict - 4/5

I felt that the Thanos Imperative didn't have a long enough resolution and this special answers that concern quite soundly while addressing a lot of other issues I had. For one, I wondered why these cosmic characters weren't all involved in a regular book and this bridge of a special sets up a great premise for the new Annihilators book (effectively the Avengers in space) that's going to have me coming back, month after month, starting in March.

Cosmo is good dog, Da? 0

It´s admirable the things Peter "Starlord" Quill achieved in his run with the Guardians of the Galaxy and in his death it is very comforting and reassuring that his dream will live on. Focusing the narrative in Cosmo was awesome, since he´s such a great character: a telepath dog from Russia and an astronaut, running a space station (that is a Celestial´s head), makes me laugh with his dialogues and his simplicity: he´s a loyall dog. And that´s why Peter chose him to go on with the Guardians of t...

Disappointment Would Be A More Accurate Title For This 0

The aftermath issue for the Thanos Imperative event hits and proves to be a passable issue that really only shows how little momentum is left in Marve's cosmic franchise, assembling the upcoming Annihilators team in a completely mechanical fashion and doing nothing else.  Cosmo is our lead character in this issue and is easily the best thing about it. Cosmo is a consistently entertaining character and possibly the best thing DnA came up with in their run on Marvel's cosmic franchise. It is a bri...
