Talon #0
Synopsis: The issue starts in a dog kennel, where the eight years old, Calvin, was locked up by his own father. After three endless nights, the boy finally manages to escape. He ran until he was found by a performer at Haly's Circus, who was trained in the art of the escape. He taught Calvin all he knew, and when the performer died, the boy took over his act. One night, the owner of the circus asked Calvin to do his best in an act to a stranger. The ´´stranger`` was a member of the Court of Owls. The organization, then, trained Calvin until he could become a talon. When the time came, the boy killed the current talon of the court (which left Calvin paranoid). He was, then, given his first mission: to eliminate the Washington bloodline, by killing the daughter of Eric Washington. What the court didn't tell him was that the woman had a 2 years old daughter. Calvin can't do it, so he just ''kidnaps'' both of them and starts running from the court. All of this happened in a distant past. The facts that will happen now were just 5 years ago, after what I just wrote in this review.
5 years ago: While Calvin was working, he sees a man about to ´´jump from a bridge``. When he comes close to the man, Calvin notices that he is already dead. In fact killed by a talon, who wraps Calvin in chains and puts him in a car that is pushed to the sea. He easilly escapes and asks the talon what the court wants with him. The assassin says that they don`t plan on killing him, but bringing him back to the Court of Owls. That said, the issue ends with Calvin driving away.
The Good: The art is pretty good. Kinda reminded me of Capullo`s. I love the idea of having a bat related comic that is not about Batman, especially when the Court of Owls (probably my favorite Batman villain alongside the Joker ever) is involved. I really am looking forward to the next issue of this series.
The Bad: I loved this comic, but I trully hope the whole series isn't just the Court of Owls chasing Calvin.
Overall: 4.5/5 stars. This issue was awesome! Pick it up!
