Supergirl is all about taking action, many times putting herself and others in harms way or making things way worst.
Superman also went through that phase in his early years, but after years of action, he learned to interfere without making the world believe he'll always be there, because the truth is, he'll not.

Technically he did explain himself to Linda afterwards, just not beforehand. Still it's similar to what Superman did in "Must There Be a Superman?"
