Originally there was a poll set here, but a while Comicvine went through a major change and so any polls set up before then was lost.

So this thread is now simply to discuss whether or not Dan Slott keep writing for Spider-Man?

But, if you wish to place a vote, you can do so here.

No. There is such thing as being on a title too long. If the same writer keeps doing it then it gets stale.

I clicked on definitely but then realized that actually, as much as I like Slott's work, I'd rather see him switch titles and let someone else have their turn with Spider-Man. I'd prefer it if the Superior Spider-Man business came to an end first though.

Nope he should stop once Superior Spider-man is over. We need new writers. They switched for Marvel NOW except him. So ya, he needs to leave. Or else we will get something like this.

I guess you don't read manga? or independent titles that run longer than 12 issues. :p

@JairamGanpat: Nah Manga gets boring pretty fast. the only one i've enjoyed has been Hellsing and how does 12 issues compare to the couple of hundred Slott has written? You know he's the second (perhaps first) longest writer of Spider-man right?

@Strider92: Well I didn't know Dan Slott has written 200 issues of Spider-Man and I've certainly not read them all and can't speak toward the quality of his entire run, but I guess I just don't like the generalization of having a writer on for a certain amount of issues causes the book to get stale.

Sandman was able to capture the audience for over 50 issues, Y the Last Man as well. In mainstream comics I guess the example would be Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man run. On top of that there is The Walking Dead and Invincible.

I'd probably prefer it if you just said you think Slott's run out of ideas which I would agree with because if you've read issues 4 and 5 of Superior, the plot revolved around a Mocha Cola conspiracy...

Wait, what was my point? o yeah, I think you're generalizing a bit too much. Maybe Slott is stale but not all writers of long runs are stale. :p

He should be allowed to finish his Superior Spider-man arc and place Peter back in his body, after that I think his run should be over. It's been a fun ride, but it seems that after this arc Peter's life is going to be right back to where it was prior to Big Time.

Yes but only if he writes him as he previously did. Big Time, Revenge of the Spider-Slayer, No One Dies, Crossroads, Spider-Island and Ends of the Earth were fantastic stories but recently Slott has lost that creative writing spark. I'd be willing to give him another chance but only one. He'd have to push the bar on his own writing for me to allow him to continue writing Spider-Man. No Turning Back, Danger Zone, Dying Wish and Superior has been a mess.

Prior to ONE MORE DAY should be more like it!!!! Bring back Mary Jane up front and center, my chances of reading Spidey again may be 50%, re-attach "Parker" to her name, and it will be 100%.

    @amazingspiderman15:

I'm one of those fans that came back after OMD but not because of Slott's writing, but rather for my love of the character.

During his ASM run, I actually enjoyed the stories by Zeb Wells, Mark Waid, Joe Kelly & Fred van Lente a lot more.

In my opinion, I don't think Dan is writing as well as he could be. SSM was just a silly joke to me. I think he has written some of the worst Spider-Man stories.

@theamazingspidey: If Marvel is doing well with the Amazing Spider-Man, why don't they revive the Web of Spider-Man; Spectacular Spider-Man, and Sensational Spider-Man once again? Having one title isn't enough. Since Amazing Spider-Man is Marvel top selling title, they should seriously consider reviving the other title a let other writers have their turn at Spider-Man.

Pretty sure we just announced that AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #4, #5, and #6 have now sold out at the distributor level.

So, that's ALL six of the run so far selling out and going back to press-- as well as being Marvel's best regularly selling book. Marvel's pretty happy about that.

    Beata

    I've got years left. :)

Love the character. This is my dream job. No intention of going anytime soon.

We've already planned out the big, crazy things we've got planned for 2015 and far, far, far beyond.

Swear to God, I see threads like this, or people taking shots, it's my nature to dig my heels in deeper, roll my sleeves up, and work harder. For every "Magnetic Eye" or "Master of Surprise" or the 3 guys who signed that online petition-- or the 200 or so who signed a similar one back during SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN...

...I get TONS of fans who come to shows with their entire stacks of the BND, BIG TIME, and SUPERIOR runs. And I happily sign all of 'em and talk w/ those guys about what worked for them, what didn't, and throw 'em teases of what we've got planned.

If I see 30 or so people on Vine being angry and sounding off... it's kinda put into perspective by stuff like this: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=poll&id=229

So, no, it doesn't really throw me. If anything it really does help spur me on out of spite. :)
