    The Origin again

In this issue we meet a homeless child by the name of Billy Batson as he is being beaten by thugs on the street. This is the way his life is until he meets a the Wizard Shazam who gives him great powers based on the greek gods. This issue is basically the origin story, so those of us familiar with the story are not going to find too much here that is new. Truthfully, there is not even a handfull of pages here that tells a part of the story i have not seen before.Jeff Smith does make it good however, we just aren't going to win any major awards for originality. Much could be said about Jeff Smiths art style, and how deceptively simple it is. I find that it fits the character perfectly. I could easily recommend this book for any age of reader.
