    Everything Begins With An IDEA

    The Story:

S.H.I.E.L.D. has been around for centuries. Certain historical figures have been members of the brotherhood and have been saving the world long before any of todays heroes in the Marvel Universe.

    My Thoughts:

This has to be one of the most unique and thrilling series Marvel has ever published. It certainly has received overwhelming positive reception upon its release. Jonathan Hickman and Dustin Weaver have created a comic masterpiece. What attracted me to this series is the fact that it involves a bunch of historical figures and puts an exciting spin on them. Such people as Leonardo Da Vinci, Sir Isaac Newton, Nostradamus, Nikola Tesla and Galileo Galilei were all members of S.H.I.E.L.D. during their time. We see these men both shape and protect the world.

Howard Stark and Nathaniel Richards were also added to the story. Two other geniuses added to the already stellar lineup of characters. I thought their role in the story was interesting as both men are such respected geniuses and have had an impact during their time as well. We get a peek into their lives and learn a little more about them and the kind of men they are which was nice.

Dustin Weaver's artwork is a sight to see. This is some of the finest work I've come across in comics. Every page has so much detail and effort put into it it's astounding. The coloring is sublime and the lettering is classy. There are so many breathtaking panels you just have to see them for yourself. Weaver did a tremendous job capturing the different time periods this story jumps around to. The extra bonus material at the end was a nice addition. What makes the artwork even better is that this is an oversized hardcover version. Everything is truly bigger and better.

This isn't just some mini-series that's over and done with. Hickman has left it open to endless possibilities. I look forward to reading the next volume and seeing where this story leads to.

I definitely recommend this to all comic readers especially those who are interested in world history since it includes such prominent historical figures. Everything about this comic is superb from the storytelling to the artwork. It's worth the money especially if you get the hardcover.

    Rating: 5/5
