3 hours is a good length for the podcast. Maybe the time could even be split between general conversation and questions.

Hey guys. Before I get to my question I wanted to comment on something you were talking about in regard to the Lois Lane issue, hope that's ok. You were mentioning how having 'Superman' in the title wasn't going to help the book sell any more but I think that the reason they do this is for alphabetical shelving purposes. Having it be 'Superman Presents: Lois Lane' or 'Batman: Joker's Daughter' allows shops to still shelve those books with the Superman and Batman titles, instead of having one wayward one-shot floating around in the 'L' or 'J' sections. So really, although it may not help it sell more issues, it may help not sell fewer by grouping it close to the titles it would tie into.

So now what I'm really here for: I was just catching up on Remender's Captain America and was noticing the huge improvements in art now (Nick Klein) compared to the first arc (Romita Jr). It got me thinking about how that first arc could be one of the great cap stories if they would just go back and redo the art and it bums me out a bit. So my question is, are there any stories that you guys love that you wish could get a do over in the art department?

Thanks!

Dan

As a collector of comics I often think about the fact that most modern comics are essentially worthless in the aftermarket. Today though I thought about how the current state of comics, with lower print runs and the rising interest in digital reading, could have the potential of turning that around. Not to mention that many people think that we are in a comics renaissance and so people may looks back on this era as a key period to collect. I'd love to hear your guys thoughts on this, maybe thinking 20-30 years into the future. Does the comic aftermarket have a future?

And an afterthought, do you think that more people are still bagging and boarding everything or that because books are known to (currently) have little value that people are treating print comics as disposable media? Unless I really cherish the books, I bag and board my books in story arcs so they are easier to access.

Thanks!

What's the most off the wall comic or comic related item you own? What's you're most cherished comic item you own?

I've been really enjoying going back and re-reading a lot of series lately and was curious if this is something that you get the opportunity to do? I know you're a big fan of the Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans and just wondering if you still think it holds up? I've found that it reads a lot better if you skim a lot of the though bubbles and captions.

Did you ever read the Outsiders when Nightwing was on the team? I've thought about reading this series but wasn't sure if it was any good.

Thanks for the opinions

Hey y'alls. You've talked about how it can be tricky reviewing single issues sometimes because not a lot happens or that it was just setting things up. Have you ever thought about going back and reviewing specific arcs that proved to be better as a whole than their first or second issue set up? I know you guys have a lot going on, but doing this once or twice a month could be really cool.

Hey Tony.

Maybe you'll have some insight to this, maybe not, but I was wondering why publishers let critically acclaimed or popular trades go out of print? DC not only let the Starman Omnibus hardcovers go out of print but never finished putting out the paperbacks (only two volumes came out, #3 was canceled). Nightwing (old DCU) trades seem to be in really high demand but they've been out of print forever. I know they can't keep everything in print but these just seem like a bad business decisions.

Hey! A couple questions:

If you had the opportunity to bring back two New 52 titles that have been canceled what would you choose? I'd probably go with Deathstroke and I, Vampire. I think both of these books were great and ended prematurely.

I was thinking back to all the Flashpoint tie-ins and trying to remember what characters haven't been introduced from that universe in the current DCU. Outside of Canterburry Cricket I can't really think of any. Even Thomas Wayne Batman exists. Is there anyone else?

I really enjoyed your SMPOS podcast with Josh Williamson and your conversation about the ability (or lack there of) to leave and impact on mainstream characters due to the oversight and protection of characters. Do you think that it is possible to have the impact that Claremont, Perez/Wolfman, Frank Miller, etc at the big two or do you think these big ideas are a thing of the past unless you go to small publishers or creator owned titles? Snyder's Batman and Slott's Spider-Man are the only recent titles that would be in this category.

Hey Tony.

A few questions for you:

Do you find it more or less difficult, or maybe just different, to review books that are written by people who you know personally? This seems like it would be tricky.

If you could have a statue of one DC, Marvel, and Image/Dark Horse/IDW character made who would it be and who's art/design would you want it to be based off? I'd go with Marcos Martin/Dr. Strange, Cliff Chiang/Deathstroke, and Chris Samnee/Rocketeer

Do you have any favorite characters that you don't really know why you like them as much as you do? I really like Manbat but have no idea why other than liking the concept. I can't think of one great Manbat story but still think he's a cool character.

Thanks!

I'm really a fan of the old Brave and the Bold where it was essentially Batman and _____. Do you think that doing this format with what was Batman and Robin could be successful if they just continued it as a team up book that wasn't limited to just bat family characters like they are doing now?

Hey CV gang. I used to post under man_struttin but something weird happened with my account so I just started a new profile so I could start asking questions again. Anyway, on to more important items.

A few questions:

1. Is any of the Comic Vine crew going to be making out to Emerald City this year? Seeing that I listen to your voices every week it'd be cool to meet you guys in person.

2. What do you think that CGC-ing? It seems like a lot of people are getting every random issue under the sun graded, which just seems like a waste of money to me.

3. Any insight why people get books signed by people who have nothing to do with the specific issue? I see a lot of CGC 'signature series' with Stan Lee's signatures even though he didn't work on the book. Is it like in Stepbrothers how Brennan gets a sword signed by Randy Jackson because he "bumped into him and all [he] had on [him] was this samurai sword... And you're not gonna not get Randy Jackson's autograph, Right?"

4. Do you think that Marvel and DC would benefit from having more stand alone books like Hawkeye, Daredevil, or Wonder Woman? Personally, I've dropped all but 2 'big two' books (Batman and Nightwing) because I know I can get self contained stories at Image, Dark Horse, and Vertigo. I just can't keep up or afford all of the books that spill into each other now that both companies just seem to be doing a perpetual loop of events and crossovers.

Thanks guys.

Dan
