The Swarmlord
The Swarmlord is a legendary Tyranid creature created by the Hive Mind with the purpose of out-thinking the enemy and developing new strategies when standard Tyranid strategies of physical and biological adaption fail. It has destroyed empires and driven civilisations to extinction, and now it is the foremost Tyranid threat to the Galaxy and the Imperium. The title Swarmlord is its designation given by the Imperium, but it has been known by many other names including the Tyrantlord of the Hive Mind, the Herald of Great Devourer, and the Destroyer of the Kha'la Empire.
It is the pinnacle of the evolution of the Hive Tyrant bioform, a truly unique monster. The Swarmlord is essentially immortal, like a Hive Tyrant, as once killed it is reborn by the Hive Mind with the exact same experiences, character and knowledge, in essence becoming stronger than its predecessor every time because of its new experience. But unlike a Hive Tyrant, the reincarnation of the Swarmlord appears to be a stress induced response that is triggered only when conventional strategies of the Hive Mind fail and greater resourcefulness and tactics are needed. To this end, the Swarmlord possess more autonomy from the Hive Mind than any other Tyranid creature, and its connection with the Hive Mind is so strong it can emerge amongst any Hive Fleet, transcending any physical limitations separating the different Fleets. The Swarmlord has aeons of battle experience and bloodshed to draw upon. Infact, it is as old as the Tyranid race itself.
As weapons the Swarmlord wields four bone sabres, crackling with disruptive power, that are capable of slicing through adamantium and force fields as if they were nothing. They differ from commonly seen Tyranid Boneswords n that each sabre has a crystalline growth, not indigenous to the galaxy, at its core that partially protrudes through the blade's serrated surface. The Swarmlord can parry with these sabres at such speed that its foes find it all but impossible to inflict a hit on the creature.

Powers
- Massively Strong: the Swarmlord is capable of exerting untold amounts of physical force, though he is surpassed by Old One Eye.
- Durable: the Swarmlord is incredibly tough to kill, as his carapace is very difficult to penetrate, and he is capable of sustaining massive amounts of injury.
- Regeneration: The Swarmlord is capable of healing injuries that would take years to heal for a human in a matter of minutes.
- Psyker: the Swarmlord is a massively powerful psyker, as is befitting for the Hive Mind's will made manifest.
- Strategic and Tactical Genius: The Swarmlord is an incredibly keen-minded commander and has outwitted the Galaxies' finest commanders with laughable ease, making a mockery of their finest tactics and defenses by outwitting and outmaneuvering them at every turn.
- Biomorphs: The swarmlord can access a vast array of Tyranid biomorphs.
- Boneswords: These four crystalline swords are sheathed in a psionic energy field and can slice through any material or energy field as if it weren't there save for Necrodermis and some other things with similar properties. Adamantium and Lightsaber plasma don't provide even token resistance to them though. In addition, those injured by his boneswords have a significant chance of instantly dropping dead due to the lethal amounts of psionic energy that course through them.
- Agility: The Swarmlord thinks and reacts at a speed that humans have difficulty grasping.
- Shadow in the warp: Due to the massive amounts of psychic chatter that the Tyranid Hivemind generates, most telepaths go insane at the mere presence of them. Actually attempting to read their minds kills mortal psions in an instant as their brains are vaporized and their souls scoured from existence from the psionic backlash, very powerful psykers on the level of the God-Emperor of mankind and the Holy Navigator are capable of reading the hive mind and living to tell the tale.
- Hive Mind: The instant one tyranid sees something, as long as a synapse link is present, all the tyranids see it.
