If they are aiming this at females then Marvel needs to know that they don't all like the stupid cartoon goofiness that they seem to churn out now. Jessica Jones proves that.
Angela, A-Force, All-New Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Mockingbird, Black Widow, female Hawkeye and Thor are all leading non-cartoonish comics right now. It's not Marvel's fault if Spider-Gwen and Ms. Marvel are outselling those.
All of those books have pretty much the same tone.
Christ, if you don't like the tone/art-style, just don't read the book. It's not like there shortage of "edgy, grounded" stories for you to read. The only other current Marvel books like this that I can think of off the top of my head are Squirrel Girl, Ms. Marvel and Loki.
You know I used to say, sarcastically, that one day Marvel is going to run out of ideas so badly they're just going to recycled old events and slap a 2 at the end. Seriously, what's next, Dark Reign 2? Original Original Sin? Secret Wars 2 Secret Wars 3?
Also, Bendis just stealing all of Mark Millar's stories now?
You'd think they'd try to distance her character from Bendis' shitty run of All New X-Men as much as possible but nope. The fact that the forced, hackneyed superhero relationship between Angel and X-23 that makes NO SENSE for her character is the first thing focused on in the series shows how much "quality" we can expect for this run.
