yea i read that too it really pissed me off. They even said Barry and Batman will be similar in their attitudes. WE DONT NEED TWO PEOPLE ACTING LIKE A KNOW IT ALL BATMAN!!! I will read Justice League but i dont plan on picking up any Flash comics until Wally is in them. Are there really that many people that like Barry over Wally or are the people at DC just retarded? Seriously the majority of the people reading comics probably know Wally better. He was, is, and always will be the best flash in the DCU new and old.

I always try to argue that comics can move along, that status quo can be changed, and that characters can stay dead. It's decisions like this that really fuck up my case.

HA I KNEW IT! called it last month on the official DC boards, I know Dan Didio and Geoff Johns and the other ''brains trust'' in DC like the back of my hand now. Time to go get the last laugh at the BS guzzling fools who tried to slap me down.

Because nothing says modern and relevant like Barry Allen, especially now that his costume has lightning bolt seams.

This kind of thing is exactly what makes me doubt DC's sincerity about their relaunch. You can't show me that you're keeping Barry Allen as the Flash, Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, Barbara Gordon as Batgirl, Ray Palmer as the Atom and Carter Hall as Hawkman and then tell me your goals here are to made DC more modern, relevant and diverse. These things do not match.

Oh, it's not like a blue collar superhero with an interracial family is anything relevant or modern. Let's go with the unrelatable forensic scientist, because we're not ten years later jumping onto the CSI bandwagon or anything.

I feel like everyone's been pissing all over Wally for a while. I like Barry, but I just feel like Wally's personality is the most stick-outiest of all the The Flashes.

You know if Wally was the Flash in this series or had his own ongoing I would buy it over Barry. But at least Wally  might appear at some point, but Jay might not even exist so yeah sucks for me who wants to jump on JSA.

The benefit of focusing on Barry will be just that... the focus element of it. Multiple characters sharing the limelight of a solo character series is confusing and draining. Desiring a more fulfilling role for Wally would best be achieved by this separation so that he does not continue to appear as a supporting cast member of the new Barry book.

Nature of this superhero beast. This may sound elitist but screw it, folk. Super hero comics are generally the lowest form of this medium and it's inherent things like this that make it so. This is why I've always been drawn to more Sophisticated vertigo works. Stories and characters permanently evolve and remain engaging due to this. ANd having legit endings go miles towards making their stories superior.

I'm not even going to waste my hard earned money on books with Geoff Johns attached to them anymore. He's as stale as Bendis to me now, hell even more so. This isn't the most retarded things I've heard from DC @ CCI. Didio's STILL playing with the idea of integrating the Watchmen into the DCU...WHAT...THE...FRAK!!!!!! I hope Alan Moore cast a bowel ravaging spell on him.

Well, I kind of figured they were going with Barry over Wally, I like both so it doesn't really matter to me who the flash is.  That being said.  Barry and Wally aren't interchangeable.  They really aren't.  Their personalities are somewhat similar.  They are both everyman archetypes but to me that's where the similarities end, I mean other than their powers obviously.
Barry Allen was a cop before he became a superhero, he has a strong sense of responsibility and duty and he's methodical about his job. Barry, even without his powers, is still a policeman with that sense of responsibility.  So in that sense he is similar to Batman.  I get that.

Wally's most likely being benched for the same reason Donna Troy is being benched.  The writers don't really know what to do with them. That's the long and short of it.   Outside of being the flash, who is Wally West? We don't really know.  When he first became the flash he won the lottery so the writers wouldn't have to think of a profession for him. That's compounded on the fact that speedsters are among the hardest heroes to write, on paper they should be invincible.  Yes he does have an interracial family and he comes from a blue collar background, he also has a spider-man ish type of humor, and those qualities are all well and good. Making him a secondary character in Barry's book would be making him a sidekick again, and putting him on the justice league wouldn't be a good idea either because too many people would complain about him being there and not Barry.  Giving him a new identity would be a bad idea because Barry trained Wally to be the Flash.

An idea that could work though, is sort of a JLA academy, who says teen titans has to be the only teen team the DC has.  Wally and Donna and presumably others could teach characters like Static, Blue Beetle, Supergirl, etc how to be heroes.

As a Wally West fan I'm saddened to hear this however bringing Barry Allen back as Flash will be good for the new comic readers.

While I'm primarily a Wally West fan I actually kind of like this change.

I'm fine with Barry headlining the Flash book, I wasn't going to read it anyhow, but A world with wally doing nothing of import? well Hall & Oates said it best...

@labarith: LOL
Can't say that I am, folk. But this isn't the first reboot and sure as hell won't be anywhere near the last. I'm being cautiously optimistic about the whole thing, but I've noticed that the very line they're trying to reinvigorate I won't be reading. But I will be gaining some potentially great books to read out of this whole mess.
