Top Lightsaber Duelists in Star Wars (2017)
Not to be confused with the strongest force sensitive users. Rankings will be decided based on knowledge of the force and battles in canon and expanded Star Wars universe.

The original Lord of the Sith. Before he became a lord, he had to duel several people 1 on 1 using a lightsaber as a trial to prove himself worthy. In terms of knowledge of the force, he is the oldest and most likely created the holocrons which other Jedi use to learn.

The Grand Master of the entire Jedi Order. He trained as a Jedi for over 800 years. Not only does he have knowledge of the force, but he is a competent lightsaber duelist. He even passed trials beyond the Jedi Master level with the Force Priestesses. He later got old as he stated in the Revenge of the Jedi after 900 years. In his prime, he's a force to be reckoned with.

Inventor of his own form of lightsaber combat, Vaapad. Normally there are only four lightsaber forms which all Jedi Masters know. Vaapad uses the opponent's aggression against them, perfect for dueling against the users who have fallen to the dark side. He almost defeated Palpatine which is something not even Yoda did if it was not for Anakain's surprise attack.

While he did defeat his father, Anakin Skywalker in a duel, there is no confirmation if Anakin was holding back due to conflicting feelings. Luke also did not finish his training with Yoda as he left midway in Empire Strikes Back and Yoda died in Revenge of the Jedi. We know this because Luke was not able to defend against Palpatine's force lightning.

Inventor of the rule of 2 that a Sith lord and apprentice must exist at the same time, not exceeding 2 at any time to prevent Sith from competing against each other.
