Origin
Merrill is a Dalish elf, elves who have a high respect and seek to understand, preserve and educate on past Elven cultures and practices, in particular the elven kingdoms of the Dales and Elvhenan. The Dalish also tend to be wanderers, nomads, never staying in one location too long, always on the move, traveling through and around natural locations. Merrill's particular group frequently stayed around Fereldan, however the Fifth Blight would pose a threat, not just to them, and all of Fereldan so her clam would relocate to the Free Marches.
It would be here that Merrill would meet the Champion of Kirkwall Hawke, Isabela and Varric.
