FROM THE LONGBOX : MARVELS # 2
Of all of the four regular issues of the Marvels, issue two shows off how much research must have gone into the making of these books. To figure out the timelines, and decide what happened at the same time as other occurences around the Marvel Universe.
In this issue, Phil represents us, and our paranoia of things that are different. Here we see the different way The public treats heroes like the Avengers, vs. the X-men, just because they were born with their powers. Including the mob scenes, in which Phil actually participates in. Cyclops saying "he's not worth it to an angered Iceman, sits in Phils head throughout the issue. Even when he finds a mutant child, and wants to take her to the X-men for protection.
The book is exciting, and very dramatic. We as the audience come to care for the mutant child. The dialogue is realistic, and the art as usual is near photographic. There is nothing I would say as a negative to this issue.as a book in the series it is excellent. and it stands well on its own also.
