    Origin

    The end of the war between Austria and England against France and Bavaria (a part of the later Germany) resulted in the marriage of Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Louise in 1810. This resulted in a period of peace and friendship between Austria and France. Marie Louise resented the French, but obediently agreed to the marriage. However, she was adored by Napoleon, whom she bore a son, who later became Napoleon II.
