I feel like there's been talk of this series for a few months now.  Hal Jordan has had enough.  He feels the JLA is wussing out.  He feels with the dark times that have settled upon the DC Universe, something needs to change.  If this is the case, what will it mean for the future?  Will all teams have to take on a more direct/hardcore approach?  Are we seeing the end of the "fun" times?

I'm not completely crazy about the roster of the team.  Perhaps their new direct approach will make up of it.  I wouldn't mind seeing the heroes telling the douchey villains what's what.  But like I said, once they go here, can they ever go back?

Not the strongest first issue but like James Robinson you can tell it will build to something big that will have bigger effects now that he is writing the main JLA book. If you are a fan of Robinson and the League read it if you just want to give it a chance maybe wait for #2 you won't miss much.

I like the proactive stance of Hal but I gotta admit I would have rather seen Superman or even Wonder Woman take up this position. Its a decent start in my opinion and the art is badass. GL and GA teaming up again will no doubt get their old school fans excited.

Sounds really good to me... I wish Wonder Woman or Superman would have done this earlier though, but I'm sure we'll still have plenty of fun moments. I hope so...

Personally, I don't think it should be a "Hal breaking away" thing but a start to there being proactive League and not a reactive League. Hal had a gigantic point when it came to how the League operates--they always wait for the bad guys to do bad stuff before going and punching them in the face. I think there should be initiative to take these guys down before they have the chance to do so.

I have mixed feelings about this on one had  I strongly agree, while on the other it does not seem very League/Superman like.

Proactive teams were teams like the Outsiders or others, and than where do you draw the line. It goes from spying on individuals to forming black ops teams and finally becoming the Punisher.

Teams like the Justice League and Avengers originally could afford to be more reactive, instead of proactive. In the Justice League's case the team was full of such powerhouses that no one could touch them. Old School Superman was second to none. This is not exactly true of the Avengers, but it is sort of true for certain incarnations of the team.

But now heroes and villains are much more balanced. Being more proactive makes sense, but I just don't feel like this trend will last with the JLA.

This issue kind of sucked, the dialogue was horrible and nothing really happened. The Hal Jordan and Congorilla scene were really excellent and deep though. Overall I just hope this series picks up by the next issue.

I agree, it may not be very League-like, but honestly, that's how you make something great, by going outside of the boundaries within what makes sense. Hal is fed up, he's sick of waiting for the bad guys to make their moves first, it's only rational that someone react like this. It may not be as ethical or right as waiting for the bad guys to make their move, but think about it, someone has a loaded gun pointed at you, you would want to shoot them before they shoot you, right? Or even, from a officer's point of view like Hal Jordan who is in essence--or, even literally, a cop, you see this crook pointing a gun at someone innocent or someone that fights the good fight, as a police officer it's your job to either command them to cease and desist or take the shot even.

I don't think it'll get as serious as--say--the X-Men and Cyclops who went as far to form X-Force as his black ops unit to take out threats permanently. These are still the same iconic heroes that they were, nothing's really changed, it's just that they're seeking out the trouble before the trouble happens. They're not changing their morals, and Hal addresses this in the beginning of the book, the League is not Superman and it isn't Wonder Woman, and it wasn't Batman. The heroes that belong to the League tend to forget how THEY personally operate when it comes to what they consider justice. Though, I never read JLE, I heard they were that sort of team where they eliminated their threats.

It may not catch on with the League, but it's definitely something I applaud, the concept in and of itself seems like that next step when it comes to battling super-villains who have honestly changed.

But then the question there is if they haven't committed the crime yet, how can beating them up be justice. Like I think there was this movie I heard about where there were people who could see into the future, and they worked with the police to stop people before they committed crimes. But if you take someone away who, technically speaking, hasn't committed a crime, then how is that justice? It's an interesting thing to think about.

But now i'm interested in the issue. You should get paid for this G-Man, because now DC is going to be four dollars richer.

    Sweet ring by the way!

There's nothing wrong with more than one person doing a review.  The more reviews an issue has, the better idea others will get if it's worth getting.  Also different people have different views so it's good to hear from others.

this sounds really cool! i think the art is okay for a cover or a painting or something, but a whole comic i think is too much, and a bit too realistic, too many lines, but thats just my taste.

DUDE!!! Zweet ring! Just knowing that Hal is in this kicking butt, makes me want to read it over and over... I think it was a really solid issue, obviously we must take into account that its a First issue and Robinson always works his way to a great story by starting slow...its great and i love it, even though over at NEWSARAMA they're BASHING THE HELL out of this book!

I think its great...just like this review G MAN! awesome!

I like it but the whole Idea of being proactive is not really NEW i mean most of the big heroes do at times get proactive so that not new at all. now if they are going to go out and just kill off the bad guys like the punisher then I may have a problem with that in that I just dont think thats what the justice league is all about. But bringing them to justice is cool and it suits the name better. the justice league of OLD should be named something  more like "disaster relief league" as thats more of what they do.

I gave the issue a 3.5, I like Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Atom, I truthfully don't care for Starman or Cobgorilla at all really, I am looking forward at seeing how Supergirl gets into the "Justice" mood since she was there when Hal was talking, I'm starting to like Batwoman, I like Captain Marvel or Shazam? And I do want to see how he and Batwoman join the team and why, but other then that #1 was kinda of boring to me after Atom's part, still a good issue though, I I am planing on getting the rest of this series, so I have hope for it.
