Ever since Fantastic Four Annual #3(1965) in which we see Reed and Sue being married by a clergyman of an unnamed denomination( presumably as both of the Storms are Catholic, he is a Catholic priest), and successive sequencesdown thorughout the years in which we see Sue praying, I have been intrigued by this aspect of her. The penny finally dropped in a story in which her son Franklin is asked to complete a project as to how his family spent Christmas, she tells him that around Easter and Christmas she lights a candle at St.Patrick's Cathedral . As "St.Pat's" is the premier church of the Archdiocese of New York, it is obvious that she is a Catholic and the penny finally drops during the "Infinity Crusade" when Adam Warlock's emissary alludes to her rarely spoken of faith.
Ihave long been interested in the spiritual/religous beliefs of Marvel heroes and heroines(several of whom are explicitly devout, pace Dust, Nightcrawler, Firebird) and given that Ben Grimm aka the Thing has been "outed" as being Jewish( see the story" Remembrance Of Things Past"), could we have more stories dealing with Sue and her faith?
