A Slow Start
Inhuman certainly doesn't blast out of the doors head first, taking a very calm and leisurely beginning by educating us more about the characters when we will be following. And, while this is important, as almost everyone here is new, it certainly doesn't sell me on the series entirely. Still, this is a pretty good starting point that has me interested at least.
The story is what is to be expected; people are becoming inhumans, and the world is still reacting to it. We get to see a few figures rise, although I feel like we only get two concrete new characters out of all of this, although I can feel the world beginning to form, and I enjoy those figures who have been developed. Medusa does show up here, but sporadically, and she feels a little underutilized. However, seeing as this is about the new people, it's nice that she doesn't overpower the narrative at all.
The art is fantastic, and really drew me into this world. It's so bright and crisp; possibly one of my favorite art styles of Marvel currently.
There is one big glaring issue here, beyond it being slow; unnatural exposition is rampant when trying to develop these characters, and it really pisses me off. I get the idea that we need to develop these characters quickly, but the dialogue could have been waaaaaaaay better in some respects.
However, I am still intrigued by this series, and plan on giving it another month to show me what it's made. Hopefully, the pace will pick up a bit and we can get down to the good stuff next month.
