Complete Nonsense
Hercules impersonates Thor in order to solve a threat brewing in the land of the Dark Elves. In the meantime, Amadeus Cho searches for his sister that he recently found out survived the explosion that killed his parents.
My Thoughts:This installment of the Incredible Hercules series is written by the tag team of Greg Pak and Fred Van Lente. Neither of them are exactly my favorite writers but I have enjoyed some of their work. This wasn't the case. Neither did anything to grasp my attention and draw me into their story. I was completely and utterly bored while reading this story. You do get some of the usual things you expect when reading this series, such as a few comedic jokes on Hercules part. Unfortunately that was nowhere near enough to make this story worth enduring.
The main thing I had a problem with was having Hercules pose as Thor. I didn't like that concept at all. The way Thor was written when his character arrived later on was way off. They basically defiled his character and everything he stands for. It's not the same Thor you get when reading his solo series. I know one of the approaches this series has taken is to be more funny than serious, which we've come to accept from Hercules but not so much from Thor.
I didn't enjoy Amadeus Cho's part either. He searches for his sister and certain things about his past are revealed but they're presented in such a way that I could care less. I do like Amadeus Cho's character and have enjoyed reading him in this series, but this story arc as a whole did nothing to entertain or impress me.
The art was by the tag team of Reilly Brown and Rodney Buchemi. Each artist rotated back and forth, one taking the issues centering around Hercules' adventures and the other drawing Amadeus Cho's exploits. Both styles were nicely designed but I did prefer the art during Amadeus Cho's part.
I'm disappointed to say the quality of the series took a drastic turn for the worse here. I can't say I'd recommend this at all. I wouldn't turn readers away from this series, I'd just skip this story arc and save your money. You're not missing out on anything worthwhile.
