I don't get why he or Marvel are surprised that a lot of people don't like it, the concept itself is just weird. Putting your archvillain into the hero's body(putting Lex into Superman's body would cause a lot of rage)? The real kicker is that nobody has been able to tell the difference between Peter and Spock.

whats crazy is a bunch of fans that actually enjoy superior said, when i presented them with this EXACT scenario, that they would welcome it.....which i thought was.....strange.
and that is what made me frustrated and im not even a huge spidey fan. how do these people of some reasonable modicum of intelligence not realize that he is a 100% different person? none of the people he works with or goes to school with not even the woman he was married to notice he isnt peter? to me its a big middle finger to spidey fans everywhere

The only way I could possibly be ok with it is if its an alternate reality, I would be ticked if it was canon. Not only is it not necessary, it would just be weird.
Certainly not crazy about the creative team. The writer everything about that cover says this isn't going to be the Silver Surfer I know and love. But I will give it a shot. I definitely hope I'm wrong.
@sog7dc: Requiem is great and the Surfer should always be portrayed as a serious character. Between a writer who has mostly written a wise-cracking Spider-Man and the cartoonish art, I obviouslt have reservations. Plus, that cover. Just the girl, the aliens and the title lettering and catch line just...
I disagree. I've often been swayed by other peoples view when asked why they like a character that I didn't see the appeal of. It doesn't always work but it has enough that I would give a character another chance by asking.
@jloneblackheart: You have to remember though that there's no such thing as a definite comic character only interpretations. Also, Daredevil and Hulk are normally considered serious characters, yet Mark Waid's runs are widely considered to be some of the best for either character.
@dernman: Then by all means give it a shot. Check out his bio on these forums for background. I would describe the character as introverted and plagued by some considerable personal loss. He is driven to always redeem himself for killing, presumably, billions while he was Galactus herald.
He is immensely fast and powerful...he is like Marvels lone answer to to DCs superfast bricks...lol...
Not sure what slot has in store, but u might try Sstarlins run, beginning around SS issue 30ish or so on into 75ish or so of volume 2. Of course, vo 1 is a must, with Stan Lee as the writer and John Buscema a sthe artist. Excellent stuff.
This is definitely one of the books that I am least interested in.I really want to buy this books because of the Silver Surfer but the fact that Slott is the writer is pushing me off so much.

@sog7dc: fraction did an awful job with the surfer in mighty Thor and the defenders. The only writer working for marvel that comes to mind would be Hickman.
And Im optimistic. Sounds like he is not only familiar with the Surfer, but enthusiastic about the project. Two major pluses. Jesus so many of these guys get assigned a book and totally jack a character up.
I think Slot and the Allreds are going to knock it out of the park.
Hell, I'm a sucker for time travel stories anyway. :D
