& why ?
your Favorite Old School Rapper ?
Big L. King of the punchlines, and the grandfather of horror-core rap genre.
I still believe that he would have went down as the greatest MC to ever touch a mic had he lived.
^^If Slim Shady counts him.
If he doesn't count, Andre3K.
If he STILL isn't old enough, Big L.

Slim Shady.
Wouldn't really call Em' old school. He's definitely not the new kid on the block either, but he's pretty modern.

Nas. Because Illmatic.

@jmarshmallow: common been rapper longer than kanye.
NAS, RAKIM, KRS-ONE, BIG L, BIG PUN, immortal technique, MOS DEF, BIGGIE, TUPAC, AND MORE I CAN'T NAME RIGHT NOW. You can't just have one.
TRUST me when I tell you this. If he was still here even as an old man no one else in the rap game would be relevant. His charisma, charm, versatility and overall rap skills were just waaaaay too much to be denied. Not to mention that females are huge music purchasers and he had the sex appeal to appeal to ladies.
I like a bit of from Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash is pretty good and Jurassic 5 are awesome (don't think all of those count as "old school" but they've got the right vibe to be).
I've never understood why 2Pac is considered “ the best ”
But KRSO, Q-Tip, Talib Kwali, Mos Def, Common, Plug 1, Busta, Nas, Kanye, Lauren Hill and more.
Simple enough he was gifted both lyrically as well as acting wise on the big screen. Not to mention his performances (especially as a bad guy were VERY believable). The man had more charisma and personality in his pinky finger than most other rappers have in their entire body. This isn't idol 2pac worship either. I was around for his era and believe me it WAS an era...and he owned it. There are many many talented rappers that are considered old skool (Biggie, Eazy E, Big L, Big Pun, Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Keith Murray, EPMD just to name a small number BUT they in the same respect lacked a certain appeal that 2Pac brought to the rap industry. The man exploded onto the scene after doing the film Juice so many people were not aware of his Digital Underground days. He literally took the world by storm. If you ask people from other countries who some of the still living rappers are that were cursed with today they may or may not know but its very likely that they will know for sure who 2Pac is and he's not even living anymore. A testament to just how powerful he was when living.

The "God MC" himself
@devanteswing: Everything you said sounded liked Influence.. Influence =/= best.
Lyrical..? Ehh. De La Soul, Black Thought, EMINEM and more make him look like Dr. Seuss.
I would understand if someone said he was the realist rapper.. but the G.O.A.T, nah. One of the greatest? Yes.
and the whole “ if 2Pac was alive so and so would be workin at so so ” is crap.
If anything he would be like LL or Common.. hosting shows and becoming an actor..
Rakim on the other hand is closer to being the G.O.A.T.
@shazam117: who is that ?

Also, if Hov counts as "Old School" he would be my favorite. The dude is a total package as an MC.

Is Fat-Lip considered old school? "Who am I kiddin', who am I foolin', when they be like what up, Fat Lip, and I be like, 'Cool it.'"
@dccomicsrule2011: Yeah, I don't nothing about their "music". Just like Rev Run as a person. Lol

Of course you don't know anything about rap; you're white. It takes a young sophisticated black man such as myself understand the complex lyricism and word-play of rap!
@dccomicsrule2011: Forgot to put that in quotations :P you would be surprised how many times I've seen that.
@dccomicsrule2011: The racism meters are off the chart! Lol

@dccomicsrule2011: White Power? Wow, didn't know you felt that way.
