Why?
the question has been bugging me a while.
Really not sure there is one.
It's mostly that Bats and Supes have the most fans and possibly the most loyal fans, because they're such huge characters with huge histories. So when somebody hypothetically pits them against each other, it's like pitting a tsunami against an earthquake. That's probably the reason DC decided to make the characters so close; so that they would never really have to put them at odds like that.

That deserves a follow.
Back to Thread:
I was just under the assumption that every over zealous fan of something tends to blow it out of proportion and argue relentlessly with opposing fans of other things how it is superior. Batman and Superman are from completely different ends of the spectrum so there is a pretty wide divide what their fans are looking at I guess.
Insecurity. The need to put the likes of others down to make one feel good about one's own likes.
I didn't even know this was a thing until I saw a sticker on a car that showed the Superman S-shield peeing on the Bat symbol.
Like Lon Chaney Jr's Wolfman and Bela Lugosi's Dracula, I don't think the two were ever intended to meet or that they were in the same world. Writers took in the feedback and created a monstrosity. Besides, people take fiction way too seriously. I figured it was a joke gone horribly wrong between fans.
For the same reason everybody has problem with Superman fans.
Superman fans, belive the guy is the best at everything.
Batman fans say that as a joke, but Superman fans a dead serious about this idea.
Because they are two of the three most iconic superheroes (Spider-Man being the third) and both have taken turn being the world's most popular superhero & most valuable superhero property and they are both published by DC. Due to these two facts, the fans of each want their guy to be the company's top-dog and the number one overall super-hero in the world.

Not at all. I don't get why people even like him.

And then the Batman "fans" proceed to spew drivel about how awesome Batman is at everything and how he would kick Superman's ass like the hypocrites that they are.
@JLDoom: @YoggSaron: Every single comment in this forum about Batman kicking Superman ass i have read, is a joke or at least came from the point of view, of Superman cant be the best at everything all the time, for some reason Superman fans just cant live with people that belive Superman is not the best at everything all the time.
Batman fans know, there is stronger character that him, faster and lets face it with better gadgets.
But still Batman is better for one reason.
HE HAS ALFRED, the most powerfull character in comic book history.

Overrated vs Overrated. They can't accept that their precious character will lose.
The funny thing is that even if you put them together, Wolverine still wins in an who is more overrated battle.
@DeathpooltheT1000: Any real Superman fan who has actually read a Superman comic knows better than to make the argument you're claiming we all make. I know Superman can be beat and isn't perfect but I still love the character because I'm not an insecure child that needs my favorite characters to be unbeatable.
I don't get it personally, it reminds me of the Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero fans and the Ryu vs. Ken fans...in a way, two kinds of similar characters but different. In this case they're on the same side though more often then not so I never understood the whole "Superman is better then Batman" vs. "Batman is better then Superman argument...both are cool and original concepts.

lol either Bats or Supes would murk Iron Man lol hate to break it to ya and are far more popular ;).
@joshmightbe: And you see they do the same about Batman fans, those guys pretty much put all the Batman fans in one line of Batman fans, so i made the same with them, because is obvious they have just one point of view and is the one i pointed.
I dont know I would say it is a broad misconception, considering I am a Batman fan and so are many members on here.I dont hold any hate or dislike for Superman,I think he is okay.
Maybe the term you are looking for is fanboys?
As a huge fan of both Batman and Superman (being favorite and tied in second, respectively), I don't have this problem, although I have seen it around.
