What makes you a Alpha male?

On other web sites I be hearing all kinds of different opinions,like on bodybulding.com they say that if your under six foot you're automatically a beta.So in genaral what make a guy a alpha in your opinion?

Attitude mainly, and the ability to back up your attitude. Whether it be by force or the force of your presence. Usually, force of presence works the best, because there's always someone who can beat your force eventually.

I used to be called an Alpha (though I never THOUGHT I was). I was mainly quite, but didn't take crap from anyone, and never backed down. I also wasn't afraid to speak up when I thought something was going down the wrong way.

I suppose it depends on the environment you're in as well. Trying to be an Alpha among body builders (so I've noticed, is like trying to see who's pee smells the strongest)

So what does it mean to be a man... Pretty broad question but IMO

1) takes care of his family

2) works hard

3) accepts responsibility

4) accepts and learns from failures

5)keeps himself in shape.

6) role model for other young men and women

7) speaks his mind.

8) values his character above al things

9) remembers where he came from and who helped him on his journey on finding out who he is.

10) respects women

11) defends the underdog

12) never shows an attitude or displays dissatisfaction

13) humble

14) Good steward

15) respectful toward other opinions.

I'm 5'6, my friend group (including girls) probably averages about 5'11. Never been called beta once.

@gpower: I've talked to a bunch of girls I'm close to (mom, sister, friends) about what is most attractive.

And the top two things that kept coming up were confidence/charisma and height.

This guys is RIGHT. In High School hanging out with my group of friends people thought I was running the group, I was the leader the Alpha Male. I couldn't understand why? I was TOO quite I never talked much. My posture was always calm and collective. NOT assertive or agressive.
