LESBIAN COACH FIRED THREATENING TO BURN MEMORIES PIZZA

DUNLAP, Ind. (AP) – A northern Indiana school district says it has fired a coach who tweeted about burning down a pizza shop after its owners said they wouldn’t cater a gay wedding because of their religious beliefs.

Concord Community Schools Superintendent Wayne Stubbs confirmed to The Goshen Newsthat Jessica Dooley was terminated on Monday.

Dooley had been suspended since April 1 after she suggested burning down Memories Pizza in Walkerton over the owners’ support for a new religious objects law that critics called anti-gay.

Fallout over the law sparked boycotts of Indiana and led lawmakers to revise its language to address concerns that it could be used as a legal defense for discrimination.

St. Joseph County prosecutors are reviewing Dooley’s case.

A phone listing for Dooley wasn’t available Tuesday.

Yeah, anyone who threatens to burn down a building should be treated accordingly....it doesn't matter the reasoning. However, you're trying to portray this in the light that reflects negatively on people who don't agree with you. What you ignore is that all kinds of people from every possible belief and faction you ca think of do stuff wrong.

That's why you don't make threats. Threats are taken seriously. If you make a threat at least don't do it on social media where it can be documented forever. She should have attempted to boycott the establishment not make a threat to burn it down. She learned her lesson the hard way. Hopefully everything works out for her soon. (+)

Doesn't really have anything to do with her sexual preference. She got fired because she made a threat. It doesn't matter if she was serious about it or not, you don't threaten to destroy property/kill people. She should have just aired her grievences like a normal person (she could have hoped they would go out of business).This is just a lesson for people to be careful about what they say on social media since the internet seems to make people stupid and reactionary.

I guess the lesson here is only use social media to arrange nights out and never to express an opinion unless your job is to express opinions.

Mayhaps. I've no quite a few people in the past who were fired/laid off, and took a pretty decent job in finding another one.

...I think you mis-read the OP, and thus, misninterpeted your point. The person who made the threats about arson worked as a coach at a school, not the pizza place.

The pizza joint didn't do anything wrong, They did not refuse service to her, I'm pretty sure if she wanted to she could go in and get a slice or a pie if she wants, they just refused to cater her wedding because of their religious beliefs. On the flip side I don't think she deserved to be fired as it seems she was trying to vent on social media.
