@The Dark Huntress: I've been bugging my contact about that. The west coast critics got to see it and it looks like we'll (over on the cold east coast) will get a chance to see it this week or early next week.
I've heard really mixed things about this one. The Whedon crowd seems to really dig it, but every few months, a horror-comedy film seems to come out, gets praised to the high heavens and never lives up to the hype (Hatchet, Feast, My Name is Bruce). More Tucker & Dale vs. Evil shenanigans & self-referential humor, less gore for gore's sake and intentionally bad scripts & characters, please.
Just watched this. I was impressed and I'm not a Whedon fan. Would recommend to anyone who has a passion for horror films although this isn't your typical horror film by far.
@k4tzm4n: It started out pretty decently at first, and it had quite a bit of laughs, however once they actually got to the cabin, it became a bit..boring to me, the thing the movie does is poke fun at, signal out horror movie cliches and themes which I did think was clever..but I dunno it just didn't register to me, the jokes didn't make me laugh, and since the jokes were there, the scares...didn't scare me it also felt a bit rushed, however once they leave the cabin...(I won't tell too much to avoid spoilers) it got MUCH better and exciting, however just when I got to the edge of my seat..it was over. It was a good movie, but I hear people praising it as gold already..and honestly it's not.
@The Stegman: Fair enough. Personally, I didn't find the film to be boring at any point in time, but like you said, it simply didn't connect with you. I don't think it's gold, but I had a blast watching it and I plan on seeing it again sometime.
