What's your opinion of the show? How do you feel about the way they portray Jesus?
Jesus Is Black. And I'm Not Happy
I like it. I'd say it's pretty respectable if you actually watch it before passing judgement just based on images or anything like that
-_-

I have watched all 4 episodes. All 4 have Jesus cursing, doing/making/selling drugs, involved in crime. How can you call that respectable?
-_-
@pooty: Well for one Jesus has done nothing but preach love and kindness throughout the neighborhood. Granted he smokes weed but considering it was more than likely created by God, is it really that bad. The first episode when he, Fish, Mags, and Jay went to pick up the weed and got robbed and he found out it was three kids he knew he simply let the kids keep the money instead of taking it back. Lloyd and Vick continue to harass Jesus throughout the series yet Jesus continues to treat them kindly. Instead of refusing to pay the cholos 'rent' money for the garden he instead opts to continue doing so even though they're both agnostic and don't really believe in him. Even after they shot at him and his disciples at the garden and Jesus struck one in the eye with a stone, he healed him afterwards. He's done nothing but treat everybody with respect. Sure his followers aren't the most upstanding people in society (minus Tray) but if memory serves me right, neither whether were Jesus disciples in the people all that good hearted though they do have redeeming qualities
@frozenedge: Your memory May be leaving some things out. This Jesus uses bad language constantly. He broke into a horse farm and stole manure which is a crime. He intended to sell illegal drugs to make money. In the most recent episode Jesus admits God is mad because his crew and himself got greedy. Greed is a sin. He does have good qualities, I admit. but he is far from flawless. The real jesus preached to wrong doers and sinners. He was not friends with them. While his disciples were not perfect, none of them were known to be habitual law breakers and intentional sinners. IMO no one who really knows about Jesus from the Bible would ever think these two people were the same person.

I never said Jesus didn't swear and the way they rationalize them stealing the manure, they were basically doing the farm a service by doing free labor. Black Jesus has preached to wrong doers and sinners, most notably his followers, the boys who robbed them in the first episode, and a couple others. Wasn't Mary Magadelene a former prostitute? And wasn't Peter pretty aggressive a few times throughout the Bible? Jesus still hung out with them despite their shortcomings
I like it. Jesus is supposed to be someone who is there for you, through thick and thin, and is meant to be someone who you can come to in any scenario.
Jesus here, seems more like a good pal. Before now, I always thought it a bit odd, you'd go to someone who is perfect and judges you to speak about your problems.
Granted, this Jesus still is perfect, but he's also flawed in a way that makes him a more interesting, and relatable character.
Then again, maybe that's not what Jesus is supposed to be. It's not much of my concern, really. I just like the show. However, I don't know why it's called "Black Jesus." If anything, wouldn't Jesus be black in the first place, given his birthplace? But that's another thing for another time, I'm sure.
I don't watch dumb crap like that.
Offensive, right?
Granted he smokes weed but considering it was more than likely created by God, is it really that bad.
By that logic, is anything bad?
I'm sure if Jesus was real he would find it funny
I do find it funny. You are right.
Oh god, here we go again. -_-
@pooty: Aren't you Deist?
Beata
@jonny_anonymous: @mrdecepticonleader: Is that really called for?
Beata
@veitha: @rulerofthisuniverse: The show is called "Black Jesus".
@amazingwebhead: @scouterv: I always thought jesus was middle eastern also.
@frozenedge: No, Mary was not a prostitute and peter only attacked one person, one time, who was trying to arrest Jesus. Im going to continue to watch the show to see where it goes. @jaken7: Dont be butt-hurt. Obviously you don't like my threads. you take them to serious and to personal. As Jesus said: before you remove the branch from your brothers eye, first remove the tree from your own eye.
@jonny_anonymous: @mrdecepticonleader: Is that really called for?

I don't know. Is it? You tell me. Since you seem to have a monopoly on what is and isn't called for.
I mean I just find it incredibly ironic how you call me out for making a joke in a thread about a depiction of Jesus that takes drugs and other stuff christians probably find offensive. And you call me out for making that joke?
I am sick of people playing the offence card and me having to stick up for my right of free speech. The same right that everybody has.
@jonez120: Wow. Must we use racial slurs? I don't mind, just leaves the door open for us to be called n¡Ggers. I mean, you did start it.
