My dad is the biggest Frank Miller fan i've ever met. Whenever i buy comics he scoffs and says "but it can't be better than Frank Miller...". I tried to make him read All Star Superman...
Does your parents read comics?
Nope, not in the slightest bit. My parents are still stumped on how I even became such a big fan of comics in the first place.
@xwraith: why wouldn't it?
@thecowwasdelirious: Because she doesn't anymore.
I miss Squares, so I'll take her role on me. *Do
Sorry :P. And no, neither of my parents read any comics :(
Nope, they consider them to be for children and I'd say they look down on me for reading them.
Then they go back to watching Judge Judy and a plethora of Antiques shows.
My dad used to in the late sixties to early seventies. My grandpa read some as a kid as well, Dick Tracy and a Sci Fi comic that I'm currently forgetting the name of.
My Grandmother used to read a lot of Superman comics back then. I wish my parents would read some once in a while, though.
My step dad has a huge stack of batman and superman comics from the 80s in a trunk under his bed that he won't let me touch. He showed me one time and I saw a particular comic in which batman got his back broken. The next one in the stack had a different looking batman, who my stepdad described as "not bad, but a lot darker". I did not know the significance of these comics until years later. And he won't let me even look at them. :'(

I was gonna do exactly that!
where is squares?
Nope, not in the slightest bit..
@itsomething: She said she was getting a bit tired of this website and left. The only thing she'll do on CV are reviews she said.
@scorpion2501: i read her post on the goodbye thread
My Dad was a big GI-Joe fan & Spider-Man fan back in the day, I think he wants to get back into it but doesn't know where to start.
Nope. In fact, I think I'm the only one among all my cousins who does. Although I am getting one of my cousins into them, he storta likes them but he can't afford to buy them like me.
The moment I read this thread title, I laughed out loud, literally. I can't even imagine it, that's how off it would be.

this with your Michael avatar made me laugh. All i can see is your cousin looking like Franklin.
Neither one of my parents has a nerdy bone in his or her body, so no.
No, but my uncle does.
Same, got introduced to comics from him.
I would ask does Beano and Dandy count, but I doubt anyone outside of Britain would even know what I'm on about.
Dandy was cancelled last year.
Beano still sells like 30,000 a week though.
My parents think comics are a waste or time and throw them out for clogging up my room when I'm not home. They've found every possible hiding place.

Whaaaat? Dandy was cancelled? That was a classic part of a lot of people's' childhoods. Are all the characters gone as well?

Some of them were moved to the Beano, Bananaman for instance.
Dandy was selling over a million a week back in the 1950s

What about Desperate Dan? He even had his own bar (sweet) at one stage.
@squalleon: Tintin? :D
@squalleon: Tintin? :D
Yep. Mostly franco-belgian comics are popular here and Italian-school Disney ones.
@squalleon: my dad had a Tintin club when he was young, was a huge fan, so now i am too.
