He's so relatable he bangs more hot women than a football star, is in the top 1% bracket of intelligence, and beats up on aliens every other week.

Nobody is ever going to be Spider-Man or Batman. Comics should stop trying so hard to paint them as everyman heroes.

*Makes brooding, lone-wolf character that is very single, with a possible traumatic past who suddenly gets super powers* Ka-CHING!

And let's not forget making everything pointlessly dark and edgy where everyone's an asshole and painting it as maturity and realism to the point that 3edgy5me is a valid criticism of half of current comics.

I feel the same way on that last point. Why do editors and/or writers feel that the characters are only relatable when they are brooding, lonely assholes? Just because some people are like that does not mean everyone is and even then, most people tend not to like those kind of characters. People like characters like Deadpool, Spider-Man, and Harley Quinn because more often than not they are positive and upbeat and we like characters like Superman Pre-New 52 and Captain America because they make us feel hope. Heck, people loved Batman TAS because while it was dark and brooding, that wasn't all it was and Batman wasn't a dick about everything.
