@battle123axe: Your Zatanna/Agatha post displayed why I put the two against each other. While I "like" Zatanna better, I read enough stories involving Harkness to know that the landslide that Zatanna is enjoying in the voting so far is actually not fair. A battle between the two can really go either way in my opinion, and your analysis brilliantly spells it out.

You will DEFINITELY be the go to guy for my threads from now on. Thanks SO MUCH for responding; really looking forward to your upcoming Dr Fate/Dr Strange and Third Round comments!

Origin

Mysa Nal aka White Witch is a native of the planet Naltor. She was born without the natural ability to predict the future that was common for her race. To compensate for her disability, Mysa trained in the mystic arts on the planetZerox, also known as the Sorcerer's World. Mysa studied under the tutelage of five instructors each having their own specialty; Air, Earth, Fire, Light and Water. Mysa showed a remarkable aptitude for magic and easily excelled in her studies much to the annoyance of the mighty Mordru.

  • Alien Physiology: Chalk white skin and two antennae protruding from the outer edges of her eyes.
  • Magic: Mysa Nal she was trained by the master magician Mordru. She is able to create and cast variety of spells, creating a strong invincible force field, transmutation, absorbing magic, creating massive teleportation portals, and among other feats. Though the only draw back to her magic was her memory. Mysa could only commit to spells if she remembers them added with the time-consuming preparation for her to use her powers, which could take up to hours.[1]

  • Power Loss: Unlike the rest of the natives of Naltor, who are clairvoyant, Mysa Nal does not have the ability to forecast future events based upon visions that they dream. This is considered a stigma on Naltor and is the main reason she left to learn magic on Zerox.

Wanda's Magic

Chaos Magic Reality Warping: Wanda's main power is the superhuman ability to manipulate Chaos Magic, granted to her by the High Evolutionary's experimentations and further amplified by the demon Chthon (imprisoned within Wundagore Mountain) when she was born. Her hexes were, by extension, simple, indirect manifestations of this magic, destabilizing probabilities by affecting energy fields and matter, ultimately inducing chaos. When she acted as a conduit for the planet's life force, her powers were further amplified and not always under her conscious control, and their effects persisted even after Dr. Strange's Eye of Agamotto shut down her mind. Even the combined efforts of the Sorcerer Supreme and Earth's most formidable psychic mind were unable to fully inhibit such effects for long.

While Wanda is stable and healthy, she wields her powers with proficiency and is capable of triggering and controlling multiple occurrences at once; one of her most famous feats was reviving Wonder Man seemingly from another plane of existence. While she served as a conduit for the Earth's life force, her power was so great that she was able to generate armies from nowhere and has also altered the entire Earth-616 reality at will, and permanently shifted the nature of all possible futures without realizing what she had done (although some of her victims have claimed to be able to discern the difference between reality and her spells). Wanda was also shown to easily wipe any in her own illusory reality from existence with but a thought. In the HoM reality that she created, her chaos wave was so powerful that even Meggan, who absorbed the power of beyonders, only could stop it for a few seconds. Wanda even casted one spell that caused the loss of most of the mutant population (around three hundred powered mutants left)[64] through the deletion of the Mutant Genome created by the near-omnipotent Celestials on a multiversal scale. It was revealed by Doctor Strange to Beast that this lasting spell was of such complexity and strength that it had woven itself into reality and the world of magic itself, and that if he were to even to try to reverse it, all of reality would implode. Wanda was even able of heal the severely damaged legs of Charles Xavier while all his Earth and alien friends, allies and colleagues' efforts (including even giving Xavier a new body) apparently failed for countless years.

She is actually considered the very "nexus-being" of the central universe of Earth-616, serving as the entity that personifies the realm's character and serves as the focal point or anchor of that reality. (Uatu described a nexus-being as one of the "rare individual entities with the power to affect probabilities-and thus the future"), making her along the scales of class and power as the other known nexus-beings, such as Merlin, Sise-Neg, Kang the Conqueror and Leonard Tippit;Franklin Richards, Vision, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Odin (those last four from alternate Earths), and Eleyn.

The nature of Wanda's ability to channel and wield magical energy has been altered many times by different writers. It was initially brought about by the demonic sorcerer Chthon. On the day that Wanda was born, the ghostly specter of Chthon visited the newborn Wanda and "blessed" Wanda so that Wanda could channel the dangerous Chaos Magic that was the basis for Chthon's unholy might. Chthon's intentions were to create a vessel that he could possess one day, when Wanda was a full-grown adult, though his schemes to do so were foiled by the Avengers.

As such, due to Chthon's "blessing", Wanda is also vulnerable to having all of her powers disabled if Chthon is ever disrupted. During the period in which pages from Chthon's sacred tome, the Darkhold, were scattered across the globe, Wanda's powers were periodically disabled -- with her being left powerless in several dangerous battles against various super-villains -- until several of the missing pages were restored to the book. Although this particular plot thread was stated by Agatha Harkness who was reanimated by Wanda. How much of it is true and how much of it is more unconscious manifestations of the Scarlet Witch's reality manipulation is debatable.

Wanda's power to alter reality itself was spawned from the combination of her abilities to affect probability and Chaos Magic. It must also be noted that the Scarlet Witch is responsible for the resurrection of Mad Jim Jaspers which happened when her powers altered reality. As such, she may possibly be on par with the White Phoenix of the Crown. Because of her ability to warp reality, Wanda is one of the most powerful Marvel beings.

  • Hex Bolts: Initially, Wanda had the ability to manipulate probability via her "hexes" (often manifesting physically as "hex spheres" or "hex bolts") which manipulated energy fields and matter to varying degrees. These hexes were initially short range, and are limited to her line of sight. Casting a hex would initially require a gesture and concentration on her part, though the gestures are largely a focus for the concentration. Early in her career, her hexes were unconscious, and would be automatically triggered whenever she made a particular gesture, regardless of her intent. These hexes would only manifest as "bad luck", triggering negative effects. She later gained enough control over her powers that they only work when she wants them to, and they are not limited to negative effects. Wanda can use her hexes to cause a wide variety of phenomena such as spontaneous combustion, rapid decay, molecular destabilization, energy transference/disruption/amplification/transmutation as well as inertia redirection/amplification/disruption/transference. These effects have lit flammable objects, contained and removed air from a particular volume, deflected objects, stopped the momentum of projectiles, opened doors, exploded objects, created force fields, deflected magical attacks, negated or distorted physical laws, altered the molecular composition and physical state of physical objects, and caused various forms of energy to spontaneously appear or disappear to list only a few feats. Her powers, while beginning to unveil a higher potential appeared capable of prevailing against the mastered mystical ones of Dormammu in his own Dark Dimension when she and the Avengers fought against him for Avalon's Evil Eye power-object, albeit indirectly by disrupting the energies of Dormammu and the Eye. She has an affinity with natural elements and phenomena, stemming largely from her magical training under Agatha Harkness, and has trained often at using her hexes to deflect projectiles or to cause enemies to stumble or otherwise suffer the effects of "bad luck". This makes her one of the few Avengers thatUltron fears; his adamantium shell cannot repel magic. She has also displayed the ability to cancel Longshot andDomino's powers of probability and has also once turned Longshot into a cat.
  • Telekinesis: Wanda has portrayed the ability to manipulate and levitate things using her mind. The full extent to this ability is unknown.
  • Force Fields: Wanda showed the ability to create magical force fields that deflect incoming projectiles or energy blasts.
  • Hex Blasts: Wanda can project very powerful blasts, orbs, waves and beams of hex energy. This can destroy or hit objects or people with a great force.
  • Flight: Wanda has recently portrayed the ability to fly, though even prior to her mental collapse she has inexplicably demonstrated such an ability. The full extent to this ability is unknown.

Her sorceress training has not given her a set of powers separate from her mutant abilities, but only honed her control over her existing abilities. Physical Condition:: Hexes had a degree of unreliability, which was further affected by her physical condition: when well rested, in good health, and mentally and emotionally alert, Scarlet Witch could cast numerous hex-spheres in rapid succession and attain desirable results for almost an hour.

Overextension: Despite this enhanced precision, her hexes were not necessarily guaranteed to work, particularly if she had been straining herself or using her powers excessively. If overextended, her hexes could backfire, causing probability to work against her wishes or to undo previous hexes.

it seems like wanda is on a whole other lavel than the black withch, being one of the most powerful magicians on earth and equal to the likes of dr strange and victor von doom.

the thing i think will help black with is her experience. while wanda is quite a bit abovve her in terms of power. black withch has more experience on her, but i think that will not be enough to carry the win. wanda has actually become much more skilled as welll.

in scarlets earlier, younger days, i see black witch carrying this 8/10.

but now that wanda has much more experience, and has more finesse and skill. i see her winning 8.5/10. black witch is still very powerful though. i would rate her a low high tier magician.

although if it comes to a purely physical fight i see black witch winning 5.4/10

@battle123axe: Thanks so much for your latest post, but---you might want to do this particular one again. You've laid out the abilities of Mysa when she was the WHITE Witch, but she's now the BLACK Witch. And the Black Witch now has the combined Mystic Might of three universes of a PLANETFUL of the top Magic wielders, PLUS all of MORDRU'S power. So I think you may want to re calibrate your assessment of this battle!

He is considered more powerful than Lucifer, Marduk, Mephisto and Satannish and apparently served as the creator of the latter.[25] Dormammu is of sufficient skill and might to tamper with the spells of Odin against his will, as the Lord of the Dark Dimension did once to revert Thor back to his mortal guise.[26] Dormammu had sufficient magical power to hold his own against clashes with Agamotto (a spawn of one of Earth's Elder Gods with power enough to stalemate Galactus) when the latter served as the Marvel Universe's first Sorcerer Supreme, even aided by an alien disciple; even today the Vishanti regard him as their prime enemy and that of the Sorcerer Supreme. As a representative of Lord Chaos, Dormammu also held the upper hand in a formal game of cosmic chess against Odin, who was representing Master Order, but it ultimately ended in a draw as Odin wished.[27] According to Loki, Odin speaks of Dormammu as an equal, whereas Dormammu considers Odin as an inferior.[26] He has even dared to directly challenge a manifestation form of Eternity itself, and in one case even overcame it.[28] Dormammu even claims that he will destroy the Celestials, burning them in the Flames of the Faltine.[29] However, there are still limits to his might. For example, the demon known as Zom has been referred to as more powerful than his sister Umar, and thus possibly himself (although his power has increased greatly on a few occasions since then); and after he had effortlessly defeated all the Avengers and Defenders combined, including Thor and Doctor Strange, the Scarlet Witch (a being with enough power to generate alternate realities and permanently shift the nature of the entire Marvel Multiverse) used a hex on the Evil Eye of Avalon, to make it absorb the overconfident and distracted Dormammu.[26]

From Strange’s lone duels with the fallen Faltinian being to his conflicts with him aided by the Defenders and other allies, Dormammu, frequently displays enough power to "ravage a cosmos" and destroy the entire Marvel Universe. Dormammu’s power combined with the magic of the Evil Eye was enough to destroy an entire reality (Earth-616), invading not only Earth, but the Sol system, and the worlds of the Kree, the Skrulls, the Badoon, the Titans, Warlock and other "off-worlders." Dormammu even claims his Flames of the Faltine are powerful enough to enable human sorceresses baptized with them to destroy any undead with a thought, while a thousand separate realities have all fallen to the infection and it is deemed virtually incurable. Dormammu's full powers combined with those of Umar's were enough to overwhelm Eternity and actually tap into his powers to alter all of reality itself into one in his own image, Earth-5113. Sorcery over the Flames of the Faltine: Dormammu is composed of pure mystic energy, eclipsing even the greatest of sorcerers in terms of raw power and the ability to manipulate the forces of magic, including Doctor Strange and the Ancient One. Dormammu is virtually indestructible and immortal due to his energy form composed of raw magical energy which is increased and replenished, at least partially, by worship throughout various dimensions. Dormammu has also shown himself capable of besting wielders of the Phoenix Force.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Banishment: Dormammu can banish all from his domain (the Dark-Dimension) but usually opts to fight them. [38] Dormammu once was capable, even in Earth's dimension, where his powers decrease, of imprisoning the Elder Goddess Gaea at the center of the Earth; it took Clea, adept apprentice of the Sorcerer Supreme using a complex spell fueled by the combined power of Zom and Oshtur to release Gaea from Dormammu's magic, and it took Gaea the joined force of all the spiritual essences of the Earth's living beings to banish him.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Superhuman Strength: Dormammu possesses some degree of superhuman strength. He is capable of using his magical powers to augment his strength, enabling him to lift well in excess of 100 tons.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Energy Absorption: He can draw upon the power of the entire Dark Dimension, but is somewhat more limited when present in another dimension.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Resurrection: Parker Robbins has recently used the powers of Dormammu to resurrect the villains that were killed by the Scourge of the Underworld (Basilisk I, Bird-Man II, Black Abbot, Blue Streak I, Cheetah, Cyclone I, Death Adder, Hijacker, Human Fly, Letha, Megatak, Mind-Wave, Miracle Man, Mirage, Titania I, and Wraith I) to form a squad that would help him take down the Punisher.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Weaknesses

Dormammu's magical powers are stated and shown to be weakened when on Earth or in any other dimension not of his own, failing to pierce Earth-616's dimensional boundaries directly from the Dark Dimension when they were secured by the spells of the Sorcerer Supreme; even a temporary dimensional aperture with other dimensions has been shown to weaken him, sapping his mystic prowess sufficiently that the Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth dimension has been able to rival him in direct magical combat.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]

Despite Dormammu's enormous power, Nico Minoru's mystical Staff of One has been claimed by the dark wizards the Minorus of the Gibborim-formed Pride to be capable of making him tremble.[40]

Um Morley seems to be on a whole nother kevel. Think about putting him against someone like cytorrak unless this is in dormammu dimension.

@battle123axe: Once again, I thank you so much for the detailed analysis you've put into deriving who would win between two foes (in your latest case, Mordru and Dormammu). From what you have displayed, they seem to be pretty close in power, and even have a particular weakness that could do each other in. But-forgive me-I'm not quite sure who you are stating would win! Please elaborate.

And 2. Is this in dormammus dimension? Because in dimensions not his own he is weakened to low sky father level, which Mondrian can easily surpass.

@battle123axe: When I originally thought about this battle, I was imagining Zatanna and Agatha against each other strictly one on one, with no one (or noTHING) else involved. However, I suppose that "cat" hangs around the old crone enough that it is probably a fair point that it would be involved in such a confrontation. I don't think that's completely fair, however. So if Agatha gets the cat, then I think Zatanna should have her cousin Zachary along (who is around Zatanna enough that he would probably get involved in as important a contests as this) to even things up. So you can give your opinions in three---(1) Zatanna vs. Agatha, one on one (2) Zatanna vs. Agatha and her cat familiar (3) Zatanna (with Zachary) vs. Agatha (with the "cat").

As for Dormammu, I want each character at their best---and yet, there is no guarantee that the battle would take place in his dimension. So give an opinion on the Mordru/Dormammu battle for BOTH scenarios: Battle (A) if it takes place in Dormammu's dimension, and Battle (B) if the battle takes place in a neutral one.

Dr Fate vs. Dr Strange (Their classic, most powerful versions) Black Priest version gives him the win

Black Witch vs. Scarlett Witch (PRE House of M) Tossup

Phantom Stranger vs. Loki Phantom Stranger hung with Spectre, so he should stomp

(DC)Enchantress vs. (Marvel)Enchantress Dont know enough

SECOND ROUND

Mordru vs. Dormamu at his best should win

Madame Xanadu vs. Clea

Zatanna vs. Agatha Harkness

Raven vs. Magik (both are bloodlusted) Raven by a mile

THIRD ROUND-Survivors of first two rounds battle, winner(s) take all

Post Crisis and N52 feats for DC characters are allowed. Ready? BEGIN!
