Current John could probably take Fate with prep though, like he did in the N52.

Fate literally took his most powerful spell and didn't flinch, he then went on to beat John, Swamp thing and Phantom Stranger together.

Yea sure, so after john and the JLD team realize that Dr Fate(fully controlled by Nabu) was the one responsible for the other kind entry into the multiverse in order to destroy it. So johny and swampy call out dr fate at the tree of wonder in order to stop him but fate tanks it and before fate unleashes his power on them Phantom Stranger steps in, after PS fails to come into agreement with Fate, he one shots them all into the helm.

oh my bad there were scans i was to add but somehow forgot to upload all of them( i was on my phone)

The prep isn't John's best prep showing i agree but they(he and swamp thing) had prepared to go fight Dr fate and they had a plan of dishing out all they got, which failed, but not before Johny tells Nabu that if he kills him he'd have to fight multiple hell lords for his soul so Nabu Bfr's him.

Yeah I agree not exactly John's best prep showing but by the looks of it seems like they were already both depowered, Swamp Thing wasn't connected to the green and John had lost the demon's blood abilities, they were willing to throw everything they had left and knew they would die. But obviously John can't easily be killed because his soul has been sold off. I'm more talking about a prep'd John that has access to all his abilities and tools, like how it was shown in his battle with Fate in Future's End.

No it was Kent Nelson, Constantine had the helm of Nabu in his and then he tricked Nabu into killing himself, this happened in Constantine: Future's End

And Fate obviously wasn't aware what Constantine was going to do, that's why its a prep feat, Nabu was also trying to lure people to put on his helm so he could kill John, but John tricked him.

Dr Fate will always beat John in a random encounter. John would only win with prep.

Well like you yourself said it's not a good prep feat for John, he can't just go up against Fate without the proper abilities and tools (that's what I mean by weakened, not his full potential), that's why in Future's End he had spent a long time prepping for Fate.
