Now that nominations have closed up, it is time for you all to vote on ComicVine's top 5 debaters, for the Hall of Fame Round XVIII!

Rules for the Voting Round

• You can only vote for members from the nominee list.
• You can only vote for a maximum of 5 users.
• You are not required to explain why you're voting for someone, but it is appreciated.
• Please tag the people you're voting for instead of using nicknames, alts, etc., and don't use spoiler blocks--it makes it much easier to count the votes.
• You cannot vote for yourself.
• You must have a minimum post count of 500 to vote.
• Be respectful. Do not berate and insult anyone's votes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
• Nominees are allowed to campaign in this thread by making a post explaining why you should vote for them. This can include links to past debates you think show off your skills.
• No one who is permabanned can be inducted into the HOF. (None of the nominees below are permabanned as of today.)
• Inductees must have been members of the site for at least 1 year. (All of the nominees below have been on the site for at least a year.)
• The winners will be the top 5 vote-getters at the end of voting--Monday, January 22 at midnight, eastern.

Both overdue, excellent debaters who have had a lot of influence on the forum and site over time. I had fun CAV/tourneys with both in the last couple years, where I definitely was hard pressed, especially with Allstar. And my tourney with Geek was in a tourney created by Allstar--our fates are so intertwined :) They were both very close votes that were perhaps more importantly enjoyable debate experiences that speak to their character as well as their ability.

Matter of fact, who is Gear?

Over the last year he's done basically nothing ngl. It's not about completing debates either, it's about quality of debates etc. BoF has hardly been active, but his debates when active are top quality and full of surprisingly convincing arguments for positions that I've yet to see many even attempt to brave talking about.

@boutatakeanl's been in plenty of thread discussions (easily beats Gear in sheer numbers) but I think even he would admit that wouldn't make him a first ballot for here lol.

Respectfully if it’s about quality a decent chunk of people shouldn’t have been nominated outright, not being super active isn’t a reason to disqualify someone either as for every edition of these users who are rarely active get voted in.

I'll also vote for Naronu and I'll throw a much needed bone to Pics.

You do realize that you voted for Kev, who before the event I started hosting last week made less than a grand total of 10 posts over a year, and hadn't had a debate in over 2 years? Like you do realize this yes?

Recent activity has never been a requirement for HoF, there are plenty of people who were snubbed or overlooked in their time and got inducted much later. Activity is good for keeping you at the forefront of voter's minds to prevent those snubs, but the HoF itself has been irregular over the last few years, so it should matter less than ever

@professorrespect: Let's keep it positive. People are free to vote on someone who hasn't been active much recently, like we did when Fetts got in last year. And they're also free to not vote for someone because they haven't been active recently. It's up to the voter.

That's very true, I'm just discussing with Vulcan the value of regency in regards to the HoF. For me and my voting I'd say that does play a good part as does many beyond.

At the end of the day it's a fictional No-Prize on a old side-forum, so I don't really put that much stock into it. I just like discussing the details about it like everything else.

You tagged me to complain about Gear being voted for so this is clearly not true... And you moved the goalposts from being recently active to having a "legacy". I obviously respect what Kev has accomplished considering I voted for him, but Gear has helped influence the perceptions and metas of entire verses like One Piece and HxH, and pioneered a lot of current debating rhetoric for manga along with other key users in his generation like Hit, Streak, Maestro, etc.

He's had impressive wins over multiple Hall of Famers, and like I said has completed more debates than every other person on the nominee list combined (and if you don't believe me we can count them). The rate at which he constantly improves while pushing boundaries in what he argues is unlike anything I've seen from other people on this site. These are all points I'd bring up if I campaigned for him.

So to conclude, this isn't the thread to be bitter, as you're generally not allowed to criticize other people's votes. Activity requirements are up to the voter as Owie said. Ignoring all that, you have no merit to talk about anyone else's debating "legacy" considering you got voted in purely off the strength of respect threads.
