The fight takes place at dagorlad. It is a fight to the death, who wins?
Darth Maul and Darth Vader vs The Witch king and a balrog
As far as I remember Balrog never demonstrated superior combat feats in the book, he was competing with Gandalf on door opening spells and then stalemated with Gandalf, he doesn't have combative spells and he doesn't have superior combative feats. Witch-King's prophecy may not work on Maul and Vader as well, Maul is an alien and Vader is more machine than a man.
Balrog is being a demi-god is irrelevant, Elves killed a Balrog before. And Saruman get killed by Grima. As well as Sauron defeated by Elendil / Gil-Galad / Isildur none of them are demi-gods.
@erkan12: Sauron had a spell that made the Witch King indestructible to weapons; swords are a primary example because they were very commonly used, and no weapon except a Barrow Blade could harm the Witch King at all, in fact any weapon that was used to harm the Witch King was destroyed. Here's a quote:
"The only hurt that it did to his enemy, I fear; for it is unharmed, but all blades perish that pierce that dreadful King (Witch King). More deadly to him was the name of Elbereth." - The Fellowship of the Ring: Flight to the Ford.
The only blade that is capable of harming the Witch King (and other Nazgul) is a Barrow Blade. Merry's blade was a Barrow Blade made by the North men of Arnor who used to fight the Witch-King; they crafted this blade with the purpose of removing the spell that keeps the Witch King indestructible to normal weapons:
''So passed the sword of the Barrow-downs, work of Westernesse. But glad would he have been to know its fate who wrought it slowly long ago in the North-kingdom when the Dúnedain were young, and chief among their foes was the dread realm of Angmar and its sorcerer king. No other blade, not though mightier hands had wielded it, would have dealt that foe a wound so bitter, cleaving the undead flesh, breaking the spell that knit his unseen sinews to his will.” - The Return of the King: The Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
As for Eowyn's feat of defeating the Witch King. Firstly, Eowyn barely survived her encounter with the Witch King, she had a short fight with him, broke her arm and lost, and don’t forget that Eowyn knows how to defend herself with a sword, the women of Rohan were trained and they could fight for themselves, they didn’t need to rely on the Men of Rohan. Secondly, the Witch King was about to kill her but Merry sneak attacked him with a Barrow Blade, it wasn’t for Merry who sneak attacked the Witch King (who was distracted) with the only weapon that could actually harm the Witch King that allowed Ewoyn to finish the Witch King off, she would’ve been dead. Here’s a quote that describes the situation:
‘’Out of the wreck rose the Black Rider, tall and threatening, towering above her. With a cry of hatred that stung the very ears like venom he let fall his mace. Her shield was shivered in many pieces, and her arm was broken; she stumbled to her knees. He bent over her like a cloud, and his eyes glittered; he raised his mace to kill. But suddenly he too stumbled forward with a cry of bitter pain, and his stroke went wide, driving into the ground. Merry's sword had stabbed him from behind, shearing through the black mantle, and passing up beneath the hauberk had pierced the sinew behind his mighty knee.’’ - The Return of the King: The Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
In the Movie, the Witch King says "You fool. No man can kill me" which leads people to thinking the Witch King can't be killed by a man. However, in the book the Witch King said "No living man may hinder me!", which has a different meaning. That doesn't mean the Witch King can't be killed by a Man, it means no man will be able to kill him because of the spell Sauron enchanted on the Witch King which can only be broken by a Barrow Blade. And it's also worth mentioning that was actually a Prophecy created by the Elf known as Glorfindel who prophesied that Witch King will not be defeated by men. Here's what Glorfindel said:
"Do not pursue him! He will not return to this land. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall." - The Return of the King: Appendix A
Prophecies are like predictions, just because it was prophesied the Witch King will never be defeated by a man, doesn't automatically mean that men are incapable of defeating him or that the Witch King has a "special plot armour" against men.
@yousufkhan1212: Not sure if kyber crystal works on Witch King's armor or not. As far as I know Witch King's armor and his protective spell has never been tested against something powerful as a lightsaber.
@erkan12: I don't think it will work because lightsaber will probably just set the Witch King on fire and make him panic, the Barrow Blade was designed by the Arnor Men who were probably familiar with the Witch King's protective spell worked, that's probably how that magic sword work. I don't think kyber crystals work the same way.
Aw my two fav universes. Is it eu Vader and maul. And lore balrog and witch King? If all are at their strongest. Balrog is still a fallen God/angel, depends on your perspective. Who can quite literally move thousands of leagues in a couple of minutes. 6/10 lotr team ugh
