@thedailybagel: Thanks for tagging me, I'm gonna bookmark this one for viewing. Mighty interested to see how GR represents New 52 Superman and what arguments/feats he'll utilise for this incarnation of Superman.
Worthy Thor destroys Superman easily, pain and simple.
Thiis isn't a plain old battle forum thread, this is a CAV where the debater's arguments are the basis for voting. Please delete your comment, this isn't the time or place for spouting your views on who would win.

It is not necessary debate, Thor's victory is 100% visible to the naked eye.

Dude this is a CaV, we could pit spiderman vs thor and one representing spiderman could win if he debates better. now shoo
Thor is the blood-son of Odin, All-Father of the Asgardians, and Jord, who was also known as Gaea, the goddess who was one of the Elder Gods. Odin sought to father a son whose power would derive from both Asgard and Midgard (as the Earth realm is called by Asgardians), and hence he sought to mate with Jord.
Thor is The God Of Thunder, he commands the lightning, he can summon storms and tornadoes so big and powerful as no one has ever seen before.
"All the power of the storm, from all the world, flows through my veins, and can be summoned by mine hammer at any time, wherever it is. A lightning storm in Japan? Mine. A hurricane off the coast of Barbados? Mine again. A brace of tornadoes in Kansas? Aye...mine. All that might, all that destructive force, mine to command. Channeled and guided through the mystic might of this hammer, guided right at thee!"

Let´s start this debate, let´s get to the point.
Both of these characters are without a doubt powerhouses and it is going to be a hard match for both, but at the end, I truly believe Thor comes out on top for the following reasons.
Thor is superior to Superman in everything except speed and strength, Odinson has better striking power, more durable, more versatile and more experienced. I am sure your argument during this CaV is going to focus on Superman´s speed, which honestly won´t be enough to beat Thor, for starters, Thor can react to Clark´s attacks or use an AOE attack, but that probably won´t even be needed, this battle is in character/morals on, Clark never speedblitzes his enemies in character, he only starts doing that when he is really angry.
Clark may be stronger than Thor, but the gap isn´t large, Thor is also strong as hell, here are some scans to prove it.
- Closes a chasm of millions of tons of earth.
- Arm wrestles Hercules to a draw, causing the area to collapse and shifting the planet out of orbit.
- Knocks out Namor while holding back
The most important advantage Thor has in this battle, and the thing that is going to give him the win is his striking power. He has insane striking power that is going to severely damage Superman. Thor has some of the best striking power among people in his weight class, he has done some impressive attacks which would certainly damage and possibly knock out Clark
-Thor has repeatedly damaged Galactus
- Knocks out Phoenix Force for a few seconds.
- One shots MODOK who just stated was capable of tanking a nuclear bomb.
- One shots Abomination
An attack that would severely damage Superman is Thor´s lightning. His lightning has been shown to be incredibly powerful, it has damaged celestial level beings and constantly knocks out powerhouses. You may probably think Clark is able to dodge Thor´s lightning, but he can´t, he was already hit by Ocean Master´s lightning, he also constantly gets tagged by things much slower than a lightning when in character. It´s a shame for you that this battle is in character, because you have just lost your only useful argument in this fight, Clark´s speed, which is nonexistent when he is in character, well, not nonexistent, but it definitely isn´t as good as when he is bloodlusted.
And IF Superman managed to dodge Thor´s lightning, Thor can use omnidirectional lightning or just cover the whole planet in lightning, that way, Supes won´t be able to dodge dodge it. Below some scans to show you what I´m talking about.
- Omnidirectional lightning.
- Lightning that covers an entire planet.
- Lightning through the ground
- Omnidirectional lightning (again)
You are probably going to mention freeze breath and heat vision in your arguments, which I suggest you don´t, those abilities are useless against Thor, but I am sure you are still going to mention them, so I might as well start proving why those abilities aren´t a factor in this fight.
If memory serves well, Clark´s heat vision isn´t as hot as the sun, so being that way, it´s definitely not going to hurt Thor. Odinson has fought in the core of the sun without being affected by the temperature, he also tanked an attack from Surtur that was a thousand times hotter than the sun, heat vision isn´t even going to bother him.
As for freeze breath, Thor has been frozen before and broke out of the ice in a couple of seconds, not to mention one of his most common enemies are damn frost giants, Odinson has also fought against Iceman, so he is very well used to fighting "cold" enemies.
Thor has incredible durability, Superman is going to need to push himself if he seriously wants to hurt Thor.
Unharmed by Ghost Rider´s hellfire.
- Survives being crushed by the weight of 20 planets.
- Tanked an attack from Death Seed Sentry that was felt across the planet and kept fighting.
- Survives an attack from Thanos that destroyed the planet they were fighting in.
- Tanked an attack he created against Surtur that was 1000 times hotter than the sun.
Superman doesn´t have the striking power needed to knock out Thor, he punched H´el without holding back and all he caused was the Earth to shake a little, Thor has done something similar, just much better.
Like I said, Thor is more than capable to react to Superman´s attacks.
Here is Odinson dodging a speedblitz from Hyperion, then proceeds to hit him.
Adam Warlock states that Thor moves as fast as the lightning he commands.
Hela only has to touch Thor in order to ensnare his soul, but is unable to do so because of his speed, she says "His speed, his anger, are beyond comprehension!"
Reacts in microseconds.
Like I already said Clark won´t be speedblitzing due to being morals on, so with him holding back his speed, Thor won´t have much trouble tagging him, and even if he tried to use his speed, Thor can react or use AOE attacks.
This post was just to show some of Thor´s feats, in my next posts I will explain how he beats Clark, although this feats are proof enough Thor would beat Superman ;)
