Sketch-Men: 25 X-Men in 25 days

X-Men: Please Take Once Daily till the End of August

I saw a sketch challenge somebody had made which inspired me to do a daily sketch journal and post it. The challenge is I will, by August 30, draw 25 different X-Men, 1 per day, that I have little to no experience drawing. Choosing will be easy because I really don't know how to draw any of them... And I'm not a very good artist so the goal really is improvement!!!

I will post a progression of drawings to show my learning curve starting with something really bad:

1) 1 Minute sketch without any reference right off the top of my head

2) 5 Minutes sketch after some research

3) 10 Minute sketch usually a closeup

4) Final 30 Minute drawing that hopefully is decent

I love the second and third ones! The way you drew the claws so they stick out at the screen was a nice touch. Great job!

#5. Storm:

Her costume is connected to how her powers supposedly work and I find the logistics of both questionable.

1) Two 1 minute cold sketches... less of sketching and more like slashing at the page from memory

2) 5 minute close up after some research

3) 10 Minute sketch

4) 30 Minute drawing - always liked this look

#6 Cyclops:

This was my older brother's favorite X-Man when we were kids. I like the character a lot even though many readers think he's a #$%*.

1) 1 Minute Sketch - looks like I forgot how to draw

2) 5 Minute Sketch - Cyclops has had so many costumes. Most of them are uninteresting

3) 10 Minute Close Up - Starting to realize that Cyclops has to bare his teeth for his power to work.

4) 20 Minute drawing - Done quick. Boring pose...

4) 25 min draw - Using wing drawing style from my Valkyrie Comic

I admire your commitment to this project. Honestly, this is actually a very cool idea! Keep it up!

This is so cool! I'm loving all the progression, and honestly, seeing somebody who--not to offend--is not some amazing artist showing off, but actually visibly improving, is so interesting! (plus you're way more talented than I am)

Got the image from the new X-Men movie stuck in my head. So he has Gambit eyes I think. Strange how the movies seem to mix and match mutants with other mutants powers and appearance.
