Black Manta & Sinestro going back to their villainous ways makes sense. But I'd like to see Captain Cold become a full time hero.
Forever Evil #7
@watsonian: I'm sure @inferiorego and the rest of us will miss you dearly.
He should check out my new review site "I agree with whatever everyone else thinks.com" for up-to-date news and opinions about whatever you think.
Too much happens in too short a space of time.
Its weird because most of Forever Evil felt slow and empty.
"This book really should be called LEX LUTHOR because that's who Johns chose to revolve this book around, and that's fine, but in doing so, he makes other characters look like chumps, which is very out of character for said characters.... mainly Batman. He pick-pockets Batman during the issue. It's a small, but unbelievable point."
Ugh...
Just when I thought Johns was done writing Batman into the ground for the sake of "developing" Luthor.
I cannot help viewing this as anything but bad news for Justice League going forward. I will be dropping the book.
I was surprised by the score, until I read the review, and I completely agree with everything said. I really enjoyed the issue, and enjoyed it better than any issue this week. However, you're right, and I agree with the 3/5 now. Great review!
I am trying to be objective about the delays and the eventual spoilers that came as a result, but the Nighwing plot , and Lex being the star of the book in 2 issues just seemed sloppy and rushed and took away from the story.
I need to sit down a read this from beginning to end to get a better review I think….
I would give this a four. Three stars make it seem just like an average book, but lex luthor was great and this was very important for DC universe as a whole.
@themagicstik: I do believe it is a mistake on their part... Sinestro would have had no problem against pretty much the whole team with the Parallax entity.
When Dick says "where?" I think it's because Owlman disappears into the smoke he created. It looked tied up in the scene; Owlman tells Dick what he wants and disappears which they address later
@ultimatesmfan: agree ! I love batman but cmon guys I've read alot of Johns batman and you honestly cant say he writes him like a fool...take off those hatershades and enjoy it for what it is .
edit : if anything he just downplays the entire batman is pretty much invincible bs by making him more HUMAN, notice his reaction to dicks apparent death? that is the reaction of a father losing his son before his very eyes. he was seconds away from killing luthor, to paraphrase lex "everything went black"
Agreed, just read through the review again and i noticed apparently Batman getting pick-pocketed is unbelievable. I'm so happy that Geoff Johns writes a human batman and not batgod, I actually loved batman's vulnerability in that scene. Also it is Lex flippin Luthor!! There is a reason he's given Freakin Superman such grief for so many years, plus he always knows when to make his move ;) About time he got the respect he deserves. When he steps on Atomica Holy Sh*t that was Awesome!!
@shadowhuntr: I like to think Sinestro was pretty OP during this Forever Evil Arc. He bust down a wall then chops off power rings arm afterwards killing him, hell this issue he goes toe 2 toe against mazahs while the crime syndicate cowers in fear . Sinestro was the unsung hero of this story.
@mrgreenlantern: I disagree. He was nerfed for Parallax...he was just normal Sinestro if anything. In issue 6 he blasts Ultraman and couldn't one-shot him and against Mazahs, he should have been able to easily beat him due to Parallax...instead he double teamed with Black Adam and it didn't work out so well.
@frozen: The same can be said for a bunch of other superheroes, and superman doesn't even wear a mask. People shouldn't just be able to figure out identities so easily, or else there's no point to having one. First everyone knows dick's identity, now batman too...
Couldn't disagree more about the rating and review this received. I thought this issue (and the series in general) has been fantastic. Yes the delay and release of 'aftermath' titles had been an unfortunate pain in the backside but sh*t happens and this event has been amazing from start to finish. Rich character development, an engaging yet simple premise (not an overtly convoluted plot like Infinity had) and consistently fantastic art.
I'm a relatively new user to this site (about a year) but it's becoming very apparent that DC is generally not as well favoured as much as the other big publisher, But hey, it's all subjective. That's why forums and comments sections exist.
Atomics, meet Lex Luthor's foot
We have been dooped, thinking it was Darksied this whole time, and it turns out to be Anti-Monitor, sneaky, sneak, Johns
Forever Evil was the first big comic event I'd read in a good while and man it reminds me why I genrally don't like big crossovers or events. They are the equivalent of Blockbuster cinema and like the anlogy often lack any sense of character and are predominatly plot driven so big action pieces can occur.
I liked the bookending by Luthor and maybe this reads better as a collected volume but overall Forever Evil feels like it could've been 5 issues instead of 7.
At least it's finally over.
@deadpooltattooguy: where are they?
@ultimatesmfan: People expect batman outsmart villains like Luther with ease. They expect villains like Black Adam, Parallax Sinestro to blindly follow Batman and because they have no sense of leadership compared to batman
I swear DC fans have grown entirely too sensitive the less books they sell lmao. I would have given this a 4/5, this really was one of my favorite DC events in forever. I can't take away from the quality of the book because it was late.
Honestly, as Parallax, I expected more from Sinestro, but Black Adamn moving I'm assuming half of the moon was pretty cool for him. Overall, this was a solid issue, I'd give it a 4.
I think batman may have feelings for wonder woman but I don't think we'll see anything from that. I know some batman fans would like to see them getting together but I really don't see them working out other than in the jlu series.
The Luthor stuff was gold, the rest just alright.
You give the COMPLETELY HORRIBLE Justice League United 5 stars and only give this 3? Why do I come to this shit site?
I'm out.
Wow hold up are we allowed to curse on this website? I've been censoring since i assumed many words equal banned but if it was more on the line of users choosing to censor to be kind to people who don't like curse but we actually are allowed to curse.....what i'm asking is can i curse withotu censoring on here?
All the stuff with Lex was done quite well, but yeah, everything outside of that was kind of poor. Dick Grayson's whole situation with getting his identity exposed and having to pretend to be dead (it looked like all the Justice League plus Lex and Catwoman see him alive and well), the rest of the villains aside from Lex didn't get much attention, Batman not doing much, Catwoman also not doing much and just being "there" most of the time, how Earth-3 Luthor was used and quickly done away with, and how really resolving the CSA characters stories, namely Owlman. He sort of just appeared in a few panels then disappeared.

No.
seriously though why did they have to hint at that WW/BM thing come on man worse since brice acted like an ass to selina too but now this. Now i guess people get why superman was ready to kill batman for taking her back in Trinity war still messed up though.
Man Superwoman gets around though did not see Alexander Luthor Sr being the father coming, but i sshould have at least expected it. Shame it ended and we didn't get her origin i guess that will be for another say.
Anti Monitor showed up epic maybe Prime will make his new 52 debut soon as well.
The scene with Luthor killing you know who was epic. I also enjoyed the fight scenes in this book. This whole issue was great to me 4.5/ 5
@deadpooltattooguy: What happened with them?
@primebonnick: That's what I'm saying, wherever Anti-Monitor is, Prime isn't far behind. My boy is coming back, hopefully.
You kind of spoiled it though, just saying.
The only thing this made me want to do was read Azarello's Lex Luthor: Man of Steel as well as the more recent Black Ring by Paul Cornell.
I have long posted about the spiteful and petty portrayal of Batman, Green Arrow, and Steve Trevor in both Justice titles. This made it even more plain how much Geoff despises the characters in the Bat family. So much of how he wrote Batman seemed gross and ill intended. If I wanted to read a character be this emasculated I would read up on the Cornell Wolverine run. The idiot anti science aside on how blocking out the moon with the sun is something that even fifth graders would know that would kill everyone on earth in a few days due to the reduction of infrared sun rays from reaching the earth. Or the exponential increase in tidal forces as the moon was pulled closer to the earth due to GRAVITY.
My biggest smh moment is that Black Adam's lightning turns off ALL superpowers now. Not just the powers of Captain Marvel of earth 3. But Johnny Quick, Bizarro, Superwoman, and Deathstorm as well. How are they all connected to one single off switch, PIS.
I love a good Lex Luthor story that makes him smart. This is not a smart Lex Luthor. This is Lex written as a slumming Silver Age Batman. While Batman plays the irresponsible village idiot man child with too much spare time and no brain.
When a master thief like Catwoman has had repeated problems stealing from Bats, Lex does it with utter ease...
And Geoff wankers say it is not spite. I read his Rebirth. I read his Countdown to IC. I have read how he butchered dozens of characters that far better writers flat out ignored, to DC's ecomomic benefit. This will be the last time I ever read something he writes. And if his spite is truly great, I will just do what smart fans of characters he is ruining have started to do, give up and go to Marvel. Where characters inspired by DC stalwarts are written competently on team titles.
In all fairness, Capt. Cold didn't return to being a criminal. Luther was just pontificating about what he thinks the anti-heroes would do now that it is over. Even in JL 30 they tease that he is still uncertain of what path he'll go down.
So is Batman also in love with Wonder Woman now?
It is kind of implied...
Well at least it's not returned. Serves him right after the way he was in the JL animated series
Also this panel had me laughing out loud for an inappropriately long time:
-
Awwww, you'll get them next time Ultraman.

You say this like Wonder Woman isn't going to leave Clark for Bruce.
Sh-she won't. Clark and Diana forever
