Walter Bishop graduated from Harvard and did his post grad at Oxford and MIT. In the '70s, he worked as a scientific reasearcher for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, in a classified U.S. Army experimental program called Kelvin Genetics, specializing in Fringe science. He had a lab in the basement of the Kresge Building at Harvard until an accidental fire killed his assistant.
