I do prefer iterations over the last 15-20 years than the 80’s-90’s. Morrison and Whedon took the cake for him with me.

He has some moments from Claremont's early 90s stuff, but that streak from Morrison's run up until his character assassination in AvX is probably one of the most-impressive revitalizations of a character I've ever read. Watching Scott go from an insecure, self-doubting leader to an insecure, self-doubting leader who ran an entire island-nation of mutants and made the tough calls? I've said it before and I'll say it again--Emma/Scott is way better than Jean/Scott.

@veshark: Agreed in all fronts. Gillen wrote a solid Cyclops too, and Bendis’ take on the character was rather good. All things considered, but that avX hump was nasty. Emma>>>>Jean, IMO.

If marvel didn't stop promoting x-men in the last decades,Scott would be at top 5 marvel characters.

Possibly the only thing I’ll agree with time1 on. Ever since the whole apocalypse thing, cyclops has been more rude and more reckless with his actions. Sure he’s more interesting but interesting doesn’t better off. I can’t blame cyclops at all though. I mean look what he had to deal with after apocalypse. His wife dying, house of m, protecting hope summers, handling the last of the mutant race, being in charge of an island nation, protecting hope again. All in less than 3 years I’m pretty sure. I don’t think anyone could handle that while not going crazy. People like to blame his change on Emma , but she had little to do with it. It was all him, all Emma did was just let him do his thing because she believed in him.

If anyone else did like xavier it would be badass.
