No Bone To Pick By Me
Catwoman escapes Bone's henchmen to extract a little punishment on Bone herself.
My Thoughts:Catwoman is not a series for everyone. Only three issues into the series now and it has often been surrounded by controversy. It's gained criticism for its sexuality and funnily enough, being too violent. Personally I've enjoyed the series so far. I like this take on her character and commend Judd Winick for his work on this title so far.
The last issue ended by introducing readers to another new Gotham villain. His name was Bone which was fitting as it resembled his facial appearance. I was curious to see more of his character. He looked like he would fit right in with Gotham and take the place of someone like Black Mask. To my surprise he was sort of a coward when Catwoman got him alone. She quickly showed him sticks and stones aren't the only things that can break Bone. Batman's appearance was well timed and well written during this part. I liked how Catwoman responded to Batman. I won't ruin it, you'll have to see for yourself.
There's some flashback scenes of Selina and Lola that were done pretty nicely. It looks like Lola has played a pivotal role in Selina's life even if she wasn't able to completely stop Selina from being a thief. Selina nevertheless loved and respected Lola so her death has greatly affected her. I wouldn't be surprised if Winick continues to incorporate more flashback's between these two during the rest of this story arc. It's a great way to progress and execute a story if done correctly.
Guillem March is one of my top five artists working on a new 52 series. His style is incredible and is a perfect fit for Catwoman. He's a very talented artist who does a great job capturing all the emotion in Winick's script. I've loved how he's drawn a vicious Catwoman in action as can also be seen in the cover.
Catwoman is a series receiving a lot of unnecessary criticism in my opinion. It's not bad, it's not awful, it's just simply not for everyone. I'd recommend reading it and keeping an open mind at the same time. There was some sexuality early on, but there is a story building as well. It's not all sex like some make it out to be. I think Winick will end up surprising a lot of people in the end.
