On a parallel universe, where a man called Milo Stone became the superhero Captain Valor, Stephie, his girlfriend had to deal with a life of extraordinary events beyond her control. However when she discovered than his boyfriend betrayed her with the superheroine Goddess Earth, she reacted very angry. Unfortunately, during the discussion between the soon to be ex-lovers. Stephie was exposed to the strange energies of the Empyrean Chalice, than changed her, transforming the joyfull girl in the mad supervillian Caliginous, who profesed a deep hate against Valor.
The battles between Valor and Caliginous eventually grew in intensity and the villian eventually found a way to destroy the universe and send Valor to another reality. In that reality, a world without superheroes or supervillians, Valor and Caliginous found Milo and Stephie, versions of themselves who had no superpowers and still had a shaky relationship.
On that world, Caliginous found a new objetive: kill and destroy Milo and his relationship with Stephie. O maybe just mess everything between them.
