The conclusion of the convoluted cultivation of older characters

The major flaw to this series was the wrong guy wrote it.  It is clear that DC was planning their 52 for a while and when China Miéville's Vertigo Swamp Thing got canceled it slowly became clear Swamp Thing was returning to the DCU.  May be the this series was not organic enough for Jonathan Vankin because he had to bridge the Swamp Thing and Hellblazer stories without the Vertigo Banner to the jump in point of Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing.  In three issues summing up issues older then about 15 years, the convoluted cultivation of the older versions seems to be like alien species introduced into a non native environment.  Both Swamp Thing and John Constantine are not familiar versions of themselves and those who follow the characters can see the invasion for what it is.  Those who never knew the characters can blindly accept these characters and the series might have a satisfying conclusion for none Vertigo readers.  Fan of either Swamp Thing or John Constantine should avoid this series, since it is not need if DC's 52 is really as accessible as a jump in as they promise it to be.

     Cheers.
