Tom Taylor Takes over Earth 2

The mind behind INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US will soon write the popular DC title.

Well, it looks like writer Tom Taylor will now juggle two of DC's alternate universes! According to MTV Geek, the INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US writer will jump on EARTH 2 after creator and writer James Robinson leaves with issue #16. Meanwhile, series artist Nicola Scott will remain on the title. Both Scott and Taylor provided MTV Geek with a few remarks.

"I've had so much fun working on Earth 2 with James Robinson over the last year. While I'm sad to see him go, I'm really looking forward to exploring the ever expanding mysteries of the title. I'm even more excited about moving forward on this journey with my great friend and fellow countryman Tom Taylor! Not only a charming guy but a great talent to boot. She continued, I can't wait for everyone to see what we have lined up!”

--EARTH 2 series artist Nicola Scott.

"I'm a big fan of what James and Nicola have created so far with Earth 2, and I'm honored to be adding to this world, with its rich characters and its many mysteries. Earth 2 is entering a new age, and I'm thrilled to usher in this new age with my good friend, and fellow Australian, Nicola Scott. It was good of DC Comics to give Australia our own Earth to play with. We'll try not to wreck the joint."

--Tom Taylor

Issue #17 will land in October. Do you think Taylor's the right man for the book, Viners? Speak your mind below!

Although I haven't been a major fan of E2...this is great news.

Australians are taking over Earth 2!

Injustice has been humorous, interesting, and story-driven. I'm on board,

I just hope after James leaves they'll get rid of G.Green Lantern E2.

Glad they haven't brought another protegé/acolyte into the fold for this, hope he does an all right job.

Haven't read Injustice at all, so I'm not sure how Tom Taylor's writing style is. While I'm saddened that James will no longer be on the title, I'm willing to give Tom Taylor's run a try.

Sounds like a large improvement in my book. James has varied from being great to downright cheesy.

While James being rehired on the book would have been ideal news, this is good news. I've enjoyed the issues of Injustice that I've read so far. I'll definitely continue with the series for at least Taylor's first few issues.

This has been a pretty good read.im looking forward to Taylor's contribution

While I am sad to see James go, I like what Tom has done on Injustice, so I'm more than willing to give him a chance. And so happy that Nicola is staying on. She is a Goddess with the Pen.

This is great news

his resume is so unimpressive it's depressing. sad day for earth 2.

Edited by johnny_spam

I am still mad about James Robinson leaving. I do not read Injustice and I am not interested in that story so I am going in fresh with his writing on Earth 2. I will give him a chance maybe one issue.

il give him a shot. Hopefully he tells us who batman is rather quickly.

That is the best person to take over this title. I am officially excited

i said it weeks ago that Taylor should be given a title that actually matters, no offense to Injustice and those of you who like the books. but id like a little more substance and consequence from a good writer like TT. after the work hes done, he deserves a title thats goin to mean something ina few years. i hate to say it but in 10 years time most people wont remember the Injustice series, and those who do will only remember because the game is on their shelf

Not bad, Taylor is a great replacement for Robinson.

as long as they continue the great work that has been laid down before them i'm fine with it though it is always sad to see a great team leave a book

That is superb news. Taylor has been simple amazing with Injustice.

@impossibilly: Robinson already has gigs at Marvel....kinda suggests he decided to go, and was offered some jobs a while back, although I'm not saying DC editorial problems (I mean, Mark Waid said DCs editorial problems only started once Levitz left late '09) didn't play their part, I think he knew what he was doing. Taylor is doing really well on Injustice and even if people don't like the alt-universe characters, he quite clearly "gets" them.

I hope he does a good job

The character from Unwritten? Gettin' real meta with us, Mike Carey.

But seriously, that Injustice comic is teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrible, and looking at the other things he's written, I don't have high hopes for this.

I loved what Robinson did with the book and I really hope that Taylor adds his own take on the characters.

Who?

This is GREAT news! While I really enjoyed Earth 2 in the beginning it sorta lost me after the first arc. Hopefully this will inject some much needed energy into the book. If its anywhere near as good as Injustice then this will be an awesome book!

I dislike how DC treat there writers so I wont be reading regardless

Oh yes! I'm soo happy with this, being as how I follow both Injustice and Earth 2 and play the game tons. This is great news.

james is the best option for the job based on the history with the book but im not mad at this decision either

Posted by kantrip

I think Taylor's a good pick for the book. I'm sure he will do right by the plot threads that James has left open but also give us some amazing stories like what he's done with Injustice.

Posted by ekrolo

He wrote Injustice and the amazing Boba Fett Blood Ties mini series, so yeah Ill be jumping on to this book with #17

Posted by Miss_Garrick

I haven't seen much of Taylor's work, but I'll keep an open mind.

You should fix that. It's a great read -- probably one of the most consistently highly-praised titles from both reviewers (not just on CV) and readers. Despite the fact that a couple people on this thread randomly said Injustice is bad (or terrible), note that they haven't actually given any support to those statements whatsoever. Taylor is a very talented writer who has done a great job with a massive cast, has real emotional power in his pacing, and has even written a few characters better than their current New 52 iterations.

Man, DC has been getting a ton of new blood. As great as that is, a lot of writers are losing jobs.

A good replacement for Robinson who's also did a really good job on Earth 2.

Well let's see how this goes.
