Justice League of Canada is Coming in 2014

Wait..... Canada is a thing in the DCU?

What I find interesting as how little a role Canada has played in all the history of the Dc Multi-verse, shouldn't Canada have Fable-Cities too. like Stone City, or Glass City maybe Tower City.

@matchesmalone21: You know what. I don' think Adam Strange will actually be part of the team. I think he'll be a guest star. He has always operated out of the planet Rann. At least I hope the New 52 doesn't change that too. I further believe that Booster won't be returning so soon. I'm sure the powers that be at DC have some grand plan for him after arranging his disappearance in Justice League International Annual #1. On top of that, I agree that the other three characters you mentioned might be part of the team. Green Arrow, in the New 52, operates out of Seattle, which is relatively close to Canada. Similarly, Simon Baz is from Michigan. Lastly, J'onn is a Martian, so he really doesn't need to have one country to call home, and therefore would be an ideal choice for JLC.

My best guess to who will be on this team including the already confirmed Adam Stranges is...Booster Gold (canadian),Green Arrow (because he doesn't have a place to go and still accused of murder),Martian Manhunter (he will not back to the main Justice League so soon) and Baz (Hal Jordan is going back to Earth next year and probably they don't want 2 GL in the same country).

@jldoom: I that case nearly all of my complaints are moot and I should wait and see.

I lived in Canada for a bit and do not remember it fondly. So I don't want my heroes to move there, at all. However, it's Jeff Lemire (I didn't even know he was Canadian) and he has definitely proved his writing abilities with his runs on Green Arrow and JLD, so I'll probably continue to pull this title after the change. I'm sure it'll be good, but still, hopefully this only lasts an arc or two then the original title is restored. I'm sure this is just some way to grant Lemire a chance to express his nationalistic values.

Soooo. The best they can do is recreate the pose of a famous American flag raising but replace the flag with a Canadian one? And then have American superheros be doing this?

Ya as a Canadian, no thanks. Also, it looks like the story will be about a bunch of Americans just walking across the border and setting up? Are they going to go through customs or something, are they implying Americans can just walk north into their northern state? Does Canada even want a Canadian Justice League, made up of Americans? Are they going to be enforcing Canadian law now. Maybe there will be a couple Canadian super heroes? I don't see any. I'm sorry, but this isn't flattering at all, it seems really arrogant and subtly imperialistic.

Now I apologize if someone feels I am coming off as antagonistic, this cover doesn't represent anything but the creators feelings, and I don't mean to imply my disgust of this idea translates into disgust of other American individuals. I suppose the most reasonable reaction is to wait and see, but since this cover is being sold as the summation of D.C.s plans I have to say: fuck off, I have no interest in being treated like the 51st state.

it would have been cool IF it was a whole new team of canadian super heroes but nope only americans can be seen as heroes who have to save everyone whatevs. give me alpha flight and justice league international

@nightwing128: J.M. DeMatteis is currently writing Phantom Stranger. I best know him for his work on the Justice League books from the 80's and 90's with Keith Giffen. Which still stands as my favorite run on the series.

@nightwing128: Jeff Lemire is currently writing Green Arrow, Animal Man and just came off a year long stint on JLD. He also wrote Frankenstein Agent of SHADE at the start of the New 52. Also a number of projects for Vertigo and Top Shelf.

When I read the title of the article I thought the JLA movie was going to be in Canada. I would of flipped shit if that was true.

Fraid not. Lemire says he has plans for J'onn in 2014 so I believe MM will be staying on to join the JLC once Lemire takes over the title.

I just wanna find out who all is on the roster. We know Adam Strange and a new unknown native Canadian character. Plus Lemire says 3 of the existing JLA members will stick around to make the move north. I'm hoping for Green Arrow, Baz and J'onn.

At first I didn't know if they were restarting JLA as JLC, changing the name of JLA to JLC without restarting or if JLC was a new book that would be sold in Canada. After reading the article though, apparently it's the second one and while I'm not one to get mad because it's not Murica, it seems like such a strange move instead of just making a new team.
