Awesome Toy Picks: Deathstroke ArtFX Statue from Kotobukiya

A cool collectible you'll want to add to your collection.

Each week we take a close look at a cool comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the box. This week's selection is an item I tried resisting as long as I could. Finally, I stopped fighting and bought it. Let's take a look at the Deathstroke ArtFX statue from Kotobukiya.

Now it might be a little hard to see the awesomeness from this first picture but the box itself is pretty cool. This is the New 52 version of Deathstroke and the box makes sure you're fully aware of who he is. It's a big box since this is a 1/6 scale figure.

Obviously if you buy this, you're going to open it to display. The statue retails for $119.99 but if you look around, you'll be able to find it cheaper. The box isn't exactly made to properly display the figure either. It's in a plastic bag and he's not holding his sword.

One of the interesting things about this statue is it's PVC. That makes it lighter and less delicate. With other statues, sometimes you're almost afraid to look at them out of fear something will break.

This figure has a removable mask and a stand that clearly spells out his name (so your non-comic book reading friends will know who he is).

The end of the sword's handle comes off so you can slide it into Slade's hands. The lettering is reflective, as is the sword, which makes it look flashier.

The sculpting is amazing. You really get a chance to look at detail of his armor. It has a very solid look to it. Careful attention was made to even the tiny details. Look at his fingers. And even though once it's on display, people might not see the back but check it out.

There might be some that still don't fully approve the newer armored look. But you can see he still has some chain mail. Plus check out his belt...and what's below.

The other nice thing is this isn't a completely solid sculpt. The straps around his arms do move a little. You're going to want a rotating display stand to fully show off all the details on the front and back.

With this statue, there really is something for everyone. Deathstroke clearly works out. He wants to make sure everyone is aware.

There are two pegs on the stand for the statue to stay on. It's a pretty tight fit and you won't have to worry about it falling off the stand. The spikes on his boots are pretty pointy as well. They won't cut you but you will want to be a little careful.

Also, as you may have noticed on the box, his mask does come off. There is a little magnet to keep it in place.

You can have it hang off a little to make it look like he simply flipped it up. His face has a cool sculpt as well. The only problem with removing the mask is you can see the metal on top of his head. It's a little distracting and the only real fault of this statue.

You'll have to decide if you want to display him with or without the mask. Chances are, you'll go with mask on. There's just something a little more menacing seeing that empty stare through the mask that makes him look really formidable.

More so, the biggest problem you'll have is figuring out where you'll display it. The good news is it will look good anywhere. Just make sure it can be seen and you don't let dust settle on it.

That's it for this week. Hope you enjoyed the pics. I don't buy as many statues as I used to, but like I said, I just couldn't resist this one any longer. Deathstroke is such a cool figure and this is going to look great in your collection.

Some of those shots make it look like a real person wearing the costume, like a high quality cosplay or a movie costume. Great job. @g_man

I don't have that problem with all of the contracts rolling in. Wintergreen had me doing 10 missions in a week.
