    Rough start, but finished strong!

This issue of The New 52 Futures End picks up right where the last issue left off! WITH A FIGHT!

    The Good

    Choices, choices.
    Choices, choices.

The beginning was rough (more on that later), but after the issue moved past Barda and Deathstroke's fight, this issue was pretty awesome! Maybe it's because at this point in the stories [that are featured in this issue], they have become really interesting and are some of the reasons why readers, like me, comeback for the next one. But the only reason these stories are so good, is because of the writers. For example, I like seeing Batman Beyond have to make a deal with criminals to stop his future from ever happening (while I'd like to see more of BB), I'm glad the writers are putting him in a very uncomfortable position and making him realize that the fate of the future is lying on his shoulders. It is really amazing to see what the writers do in this issue, because you know that things are starting to move forward in a way that wasn't quite obvious near the beginning of this series.

A reason why this issue turned out well is because the writers used teasing to their advantage. Teasing has had a hit-or-miss effect in the past, but I believe in this issue, the writers pulled it off. (In at least two cases for this issue.) The first being, my favorite and the obvious, Batman Beyond.B.B. is still underused and I'm wanting to see more of his story and character development than anyone else, but at the same time I want his role in this series to be meaningful. He's going to be the savior of the Future, so the writers have to establish the characters and events that will help him succeed. So I'm enjoying watching that process happen, and all while the writers are building up Batman Beyond's story, the writers did a good job at teasing the future [reluctant] partnership between Batman and the three criminals. Their story ended on one of those, you've got an obvious choice or a dead choice type of scenarios, but it was a decent tease and I'm interested in seeing what the writers will do when Batman and his partners have to break into Mr. Terrific's building!

    What does it mean?!?!
    What does it mean?!?!

The second case being, Lois Lane and her news story. I like how Lois Lane is 100% dedicated to getting to the bottom of the mysterious packages that were sent to her, shortly after the death and funeral of Green Arrow. The writers have really hyped her story up, because you don't know what all will happen to Lois once she finds out the truth. (The truth being something; possibly knowledge of the future.) Anyway, the writers are handling her character well and did an excellent job at teasing the future to Lois. I'm intrigued how this will aid her in the near future. (Yes, too many times the word future has been used.)

    The Bad

    Right, Deathstroke, Riiiight.
    Right, Deathstroke, Riiiight.

The beginning portion of this issue was slow. (Specifically the fight between Deathstroke and Barda.) Last issue overhyped thisfight to be something that would only have one winner, and a dead loser. However, that's not how things turned out. Instead, Big Barda and her archer friend escaped with their lives intact, and having beat both Deathstroke and Fifty-Sue. After moving past the fight, I realized that it could've been placed all in the last issue, and this issue could've primarily focused on the stories that were pulled off masterfully. However, that's not how things went down.

    The Verdict

4 out of 5. Until the next issue! (Onwards and upwards!) I'm on Twitter, @Lol_Clark. (Plus, check out my movie review for Batman: Assault on Arkham.)
