Stitch was an apprentice to Doctor Fate when Nightwing and the other Titans opened the Roy Harper Academy to train young metahumans and vigilantes. Doctor Fate saw an opportunity for Stitch to learn what it means to be a hero. Stitch saw an opportunity to make friends and fit in.

Part of their attempt was running for class president, which they easily won after levitating a falling basketball hoop from landing on some of their classmates. They also attempted to start their own superhero team, Young Justice Dark, and took the faculty to task for contemplating killing fellow classmate, Dane.
