Green flames danced malignantly around the Hellfire Mistress as she approached the young student. With a casual wave of her hand she brushed off his sound wave, a chilling laugh escaping from her lips. Her emerald eyes honed in on him, a disturbing gleam alighting them.

“Foolish boy. Your powers mean nothing to me. I am the Phoenix unbound, unchained by Adela’s weak moral values. All her latent power surges through me, ready to be wielded at my command. With my power and the King of Kings, we shall destroy this entire school, and reclaim the Hellfire Club as our own. But first, I’ll start by destroying you.”

Just as Ravenna lifted a hand to send a fatal spear of psychic energy toward Ricky, her body collapsed to her knees. On the floor she started screaming, battling against an unseen force.

The last free portion of Adela’s psyche launched its final assault against her captor.

On the battlefield of the Astral Plane, Adela and Ravenna displayed one final clash of the minds. Psychic swords unsheathed, the exchanged blow after blow. Parrying, ducking, and striking back and forth. The energy they unleashed in their battle began to shake the very foundation of the Hellfire Academy, the power they both possessed unable to be contained on the Astral Plane as it leaked into the physical world.

“You…can’t…have…me!” Adela’s voice once again escaped her body as she fought off the psychic vampire.

From her body, the green flames of a Phoenix erupted. The blast tore apart the bedroom, sending a telekinetic blast flying at anyone nearby. The shape of the fiery bird grew up into the sky until it swallowed the entire school, blazing brilliantly against the dark canvas of the night.

As it dissipated, it revealed two identical figures laying where the Red Rose had stood. As a final resort, Ravenna had used her dark powers to latch onto the multi-dimensional magic of the Gambler and forge herself a cloned body of Adela Roth.

Raising a hand to her aching head, Ravenna looked around at the destroyed bedroom. She was startled to find Adela on the floor beside her. She studied her hands, a vicious grin spreading across her face.

“Finally…I am…free,” she cackled.

Ravenna immediately noticed her power had been significantly drained by the splitting of their bodies. The power of the Phoenix was now divided between them—one light and one dark host. Not sure if she could withstand another fight between Adela and Ricky until she had time to rest, she immediately turned to her creator.

“Let’s be rid of this place, my King. We can return to destroy it with a proper army at our side.”
