Lyra Bloodstone

Origin

Lyra was the first born of Ulysses Bloodstone. Ten thousand years ago, the sorcerer Krakkan the Jailer had a foothold in Britain and Ireland, empowered by his devoted priests, except for Ulysses. As a rival, he used his nullgem, a complimentary power source to the bloodgem, to seal Krakkan on a different plane of existence. This required him to sacrifice his daughter, who was also locked on the same plane.

After the death of Doctor Strange, the barrier between this world and the other planes weakened, allowing Lyra to escape, now bonded to the nullgem. Despite her being thousands of years old, she looks the exact age she was sacrificed.

Creation

Lyra was created by Tini Howard and Ig Guara in The Death of Doctor Strange: Bloodstone tie in issue.

Major Story Arcs

The Death of Doctor Strange

After the death of Doctor Strange, the barrier between this world and the other planes weakened, allowing Lyra to escape, now bonded to the nullgem. Like a meteor, she was sent to the ancestral home of her family, getting the attention of her siblings, Elsa and Cullen. She explained what their father did to her, acknowledging that Elsa's attention should be on sorcerers, not the monsters they create or enslave.

Unfortunately, Krakkon also escaped and went hunting for the Bloodstone family line. The three combined their powers to fight him and his goons off. Lyra was able to create the Domain Defilia, a void where magic is nullified, where they trapped Krakkon, as well as Cullen's monster form.

Powers

Magic User: Lyra has bonded to the nullgem, which is embedded in her chest. It is used primarily for stabilizing the power of bloodgems which her siblings are both in possession of.

• Magic Hunger: She also developed a hunger for magic while on a different plane of existence. She can absorb the energy from magic users and artifacts.
• Domain Defilia: She created and holds the keys to the Domain Defilia, a void where magic is nullified. She has used it as a repository for evil magic users.
