Shuma-Gorath, Skelos, Vathelos and others created books bound with iron rings and plates. These books, when read by humans, allowed the author of the books to have influence over Earth. Shuma-Gorath ruled the area Crimmeria from the future Mount Crom around 19,000 BC. He was finally ousted by the god Crom and trapped within the mountain. Shuma-Gorath was almost freed by Kulan Gath and Vammatar but Crom was able to intervene once more and prevent them from succeeding. Shuma-Gorath was able to free himself 100 years later due to manipulating a mercenary named Hob into helping him, but luckily Conan was able to defeat him by throwing the books into Crom's storm.
