Bucky was fully trained to become Captain America's sidekick at the tender age of 16.
After Steve and Bucky were separated from a life threatening explosion; Steve was frozen and then later revived to become an Avenger. Bucky on the other hand was not so fortunate. Believed to carry the super soldier formula in his body, the Soviet Union obtained Bucky's frozen body. Although disappointed with Bucky not having the SSS, they discovered other uses for him. He was trained in all modern day martial arts and had a number of students including the Black Widow.
Durable enough to block multiple bullets. Here Bucky manages to block two gunshots while initially facing the other way. This doubles as a speed and reflexes feat:
As of San Diego Comic Con 2012, I got a chance to hang out with Steve Epting, the man that drew Captain America for 8 years and handled the majority of Bucky's run. He confirmed with me that the handgun is not a luger. It is a modified version of Nick Fury's handgun. He went down the line of saying "why would I give Bucky a german handgun? That just doesn't make sense." :
As the Winter Soldier, Bucky's mechanical arm can let out a propagation of sound for his mask to receive and translate it into a 3D map. This allows him to see invisible enemies. Pretty much Dare Devil envy.
After getting shot plus cracking a few ribs, falling out of a window and landing a few stories below, he shoots Crossbones multiple times. Shield reports later that NO INTERNAL ORGANS were hit.
Bucky fights using armless combat. What is armless combat? Literally with no arms. Notable feat is his agility to be able to kick and one shot 3 men with one maneuver.
Bucky with prep outsmarts Wolverine (with Adamantium) and nearly beats him to death if it wasn’t for the Adamantium and healing factor. Good thing he had backup.
50s Captain America has 2 ton strength. Bucky has commented that 50s Captain America is twice as strong, fast and durable as Steve. Bucky also commented that Steve is 3 times faster, stronger and durable as himself. This makes 50s cap 6 times all the stats of Bucky who is only peak human. No big deal, Bucky still kicks his ass.
This time Bucky did not have a shield, only his arm. He still beats 50s Cap and then shoots him multiple times. We all know 50s Cap will be back again.
Here Bucky faces off against his lover before they reconnect. Remarkable feats here are Bucky’s ability to deflect Widows stingers with his arm. He could pretty much deflect bullets with his arm.
Did you feel the last two fights weren't clear enough who was better? Well here Bucky is defeating Batroc soundly. Batroc results to cheap tricks to get away.
Here’s Bucky pretty much showing his superiority over Clint Barton at H2H in spars. Notable feats are Bucky being able to catch arrows mid air while performing gymnastics with his metal arm
Bucky has been depowered, his arm set to a normal human's strength arm. He has not ate or slept well for days because of Gulag forcing him to fight in a Arena for 2 months against super powered foes. Here he is forced to fight and defeat a Werebear!
Bucky leads Wolverine on a random dead trail and then jumps him from the side. He once again overcomes Wolverines senses. The fight is interpreted when Clint Barton fires and arrow, but Bucky cuts the arrow in half in midair. I don't know if he is brainwashed, but I will update this post when I find out. I'm sure he isn't, but he's acting and pretending. Notable feat is that he cut the arrow with his none mechanical hand showing that he can catch Clint's arrows without his mechanical arm.
Still possibly mind controlled, he sneaks up on Daredevil. Daredevil tries to richochette his club at Bucky but Bucky shoots it in midair. Wolverine comments he would have his money on Bucky. UPDATED: The fight really didn't continue as Wolverine, Hawkeye and Steve come in to put Bucky down.
And here's another reflex and blocking feat. Bucky easily takes down Shields number one agent at the time who has gained some mysterious power. He is the Iron Nail. A firing squad of Shield Agents appear behind Bucky and fires at him. He's able to dodge the bullets as well as block two of the shots with his mechanical arm.
Bucky was the one that killed Hitler, not the Torch. This maybe controversial, but in an issue with Deadpool, Deadppool was traveling through time and there was a scene that Hitler was actually hiding away and his decoy was the one that was killed:
Bucky doing the dirty work again. Cable travels in the past to save mutants and meets an old Bucky and Captain America. Read the last comment from Bucky, very funny.
Hey guys, this took me about 4 hours to make. Hope it's appreciated. Feel free to use this respect thread to get Bucky more noticed. Feel free to use it in the battle forums as well. If there are any suggestions, or scans I missed please feel free to post them up and I will update the OP with suggestions, etc.
I was going to make a part for Strength, Durability, etc but Bucky doesn't have enough appearances. Besides that, his fights he has had pretty much tells you all you need. I decided to elaborate on his equipment instead as they are important to him.
Also, I would like to mention that I agree with the idea of Bucky being the one who killed Hitler over Torch. To me it always made more sense that the Soviets would have Bucky as Winter Soldier kill him over Jim doing it.
I haven't read all this yet but well done! This thread is amazing! As someone who doesn't know a lot about buckey this really gives me an idea of what he is capable of. Good job.
He did not use his mechanical arm to do this like you stated. He threw the shield.
With the arc going to both arms, he could have thrown the shield with any of those arms. It's out of his character to be able to slice a robot with his normal arm. It's either artistic error or he threw it with his left. I accept that it's both. This series was not handled by Ed Brubaker.
I have a pretty good memory. About %99 of the time he uses his mechanical arm to throw the shield in the Captain America series.

The two struggled in the air during the fall and Brock was the one that landed poorly (smashes his head on the corner). Even if it's just saying that Bucky moved him into position in the air (which IMHO is unclear), that wouldn't be agility.

I don't see it that way. It's was a bit of his strength but he did have to turn in midair to throw Crossbones into the bricks. Look at the scan closer where Bucky grabs Crossbones collar, this is very clear.
It took strength and agility to turn his body while already diving in motion.
@SlimJ87D: Agree to disagree then, because like I said, if Bucky moved him into position (it's certainly possible Bucky flipped Brock, but at the same time it could have been partial luck, too. It's a little too vague for me to say with full certainty that's the case and that has always been my position on it), I'd credit that to skill since it relies on grappling more than what we consider to be an impressive agility feat.
@k4tzm4n: Lol, sure, either way I was trying to display it took some sort of "skill" regardless of what kind of skill it took. It's skillful to perform such a maneuver. I am sorry that he did it to Crossbones also.
@SlimJ87D: No, you're right, he does use his bionic arm to bear the shield, but what I meant was that it was the shield that sliced through the robot legs as opposed to him actually using his arm. That's why I was confused as to why you placed that feat under "Mechanical arm".

I put a lot of time, effort and hardwork into this. I'll be in a big debate tournament with Bucky also on the battle boards. I've been meaning to do this for Bucky. Please spread this thread to others so they can know how awesome Bucky is. And if you catch another forum using my scans with giving me credit, let me know so I can talk to their admins.
I'm also lacking feats with him as actual "Bucky."
This is an awesome thread. I started reading comics with Brubaker's run of Cap and Bucky/ Winter Soldier became my favorite character immediately and still is this day. I love his new series. You clearly show all the things that make him a great fighter. I really like how he is also a great spy and tactician. His new series is awesome with him and Black Widow. Once again, great job putting this together.
Can someone who the scan where Bucky states Cap is 3x stronger and faster?
It is in Issue 34 when he first becomes Captain America. I am currently cleaning but here is the quote as it is on my desk.
"Charging right in.... Steve was always better at that. Of course Steve was about three times stronger and faster than me, too. but it's not like I haven't fought whole hordes of bad guys in my day. I'm just more used to doing it covertly and taking out specific targets. Tactical hits designed to do the most harm with least effort and using the enemy's strengths against them. But those methods still work. They just need a little adapting."

I wish people had feats to share of young Bucky. But so far I haven't seen too much from the new arc that is worth respect. Brubaker kind of ended the last arc poorly. It felt very rushed and not on par with all his other story telling.
@SlimJ87D: I didn't think the ending was that bad. There was a lot of build up for it, but with the way that Brubaker writes, I think it will be a small feat compared what is coming in the future. Like with Brubaker's original stories in Captain America, each arc was merely a part of the larger story. It may have seemed like a disappointment because it has been building since February (or even as far back as the Gulag arc of CA . . . which should have been the lead in to Winter Soldier and not Fear Itself) but once you read the full story, I bet this won't seem like as much of a disappointment.
I enjoyed it and think it was an appropriate starting point for a much larger story.
Bucky, Cap, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Daredevil, Punisher and all the "street level" characters are my favorite. They are underrated for their skill and ability to take own supers that have the perception to be able to beat them. They are far more skilled and tactical so wouldn't be a surprise that they could take own comic's titans. Love the thread!!!

it has been the most exciting! Definitely! Ed Brubaker is making his last marvel book go out with a bang until he comes back again.

Decent Winter Soldier thread. I would have made one myself but I lost all my Bucky scans and I'm not really the type to make respect threads. I made one good one for DD & Echo on the Ledger. Bucky was always one of my favorites though and although I disagree with Wolverine that good money should be on Winter Soldier, I think he is one of the elite combatants on Marvel Earth and in some ways I liked him as Captain America more than Steve Rogers and I hoped before Dark Reign that Bucky would remain as Cap until he passed it on to another young hero.
@Vance Astro: Lol, yeah I remember our debate between DD and Bucky. Well if anything I think they are pretty even. Both have great combat skills. Both dodge bullets and are quite agile and both have great reflexes, superhuman almost. One has superior senses and the other has a superhuman arm and gear.
I'm surprised he managed to drop Logan with a bunch of gunshots, but then again Bucky's HG and ammo is always different depending on what he needs to use his gun for. It did knock and wind Ares so that can explain a lot.
I think that his ability as a marksman has shined pretty well. He is a great acrobat and marksmans combining the two together to be quite a deadly fighter.
