so this is supposed to be chris claremont's take on the x-men series started in 91 with him and jim lee. he left after the 3rd issue and now he picks up again for an alternate telling of what things could be like. thats my favorite x-men series, so i wanted to pick this up to see some more stories featuring my favorite x-team back how they were in 91.

my first thoughts reading this was that it seemed a little random. we already have a couple x-titles coming out consistently as well as all the wolverine hype, and here we have a random jump back to the past. to be honest, its hardly connected to the 91 series save the fact that they go after cortez. so it seems a little gimmicky, or just an excuse to get claremont back into x-men, but not really if you know what i mean.

that art was alright, i liked it. i really wish jim lee would have done it, but i dont think he would have wanted to. i still liked it though. it's a good mix of 90s art and a more modern style. but nothing that blew my mind.

story wise, it was whatever. nightcrawler and kitty pride kind of come out of no where and are all the sudden on the x-men again, with hardly an explanation. some x-men seemed to be a little out of character to me, but maybe that's just me. was it good overall though? it was okay. i still liked it, but it's not something i would strongly recommend. i definitely had fun reading it, but i'm enjoying other things more right now. honestly, the best part of the story was the end. it was a great cliffhanger and it really makes me want to buy the 2nd issue, which seems like the story could be a lot better and more interesting according to the upcoming covers.

so all in all 3 out of 5. it was okay. i liked it, but it wasn't great. should you pick it up? if your a die hard x-fan and want another series to pick up or you absolutely love 90s comics (like myself), then sure. pick it up. if not, i dont know.

oh and ps, why is sabretooth on the cover with the x-men????

Def pickup for fans of 90's X-Men Animated series 0

Now this was a book I was unsure I would like, but really had a fun time reading. I was a big fan of the X-Men title from about issues 1-60 in the early 90’s and this is that same X-Men team in a sort of alternative reality courtesy of Chris Claremont. You don’t need to have read the X-Men issues 1-3 to know what’s going on, the first page catch up is fine and does it’s job well. I love the characters in their old uniforms and this was a nice old school X-Men adventure where their job was to tak...
