    ...And In The Spotlight

I've been away from reading Titans, and most comics in general for awhile. The number of relaunches and reboots has been daunting. It may or may not be true and real, however, it just feels as if there continues to be one event right after another, with no pause between. That and the rising cover price has given me pause.

Along comes Dawn of DC Titans. I'm not sure what event caused the disappearance of the Justice League. The last series of that title I read brought together a pretty cool line-up that included the John Stewart Green Lantern and Hawkgirl. There was an appearance by Will Peyton. It was all part of a plot by Luthor.

However, that's an aside. The Classic Wolfman-Perez team are together again and walking the "red-carpet" toward Titans Tower.

The cover by Nicola Scott and Annette Kwok is titanic! Their interior art is great. However, there may be some comparisons to past covers that were more active, rather than this somewhat static cover. The Titans have been known to burst, or launch, into action on their covers. Here, they are just taking a walk. Kind of makes me think of the Justice League animated series, or the Justice League episode of Smallville. In a good way.

I would have never guessed that Gar and Raven would be a compatible pair. Interesting.

The Titans versus Titano. Gotta love a big monkey.

Looks like Peacemaker is becoming more high profile...

It's an interesting start. Kind of a slow burn. Fewer bells and whistles than there used to be. I'm definitely wondering what's developing with Wally.

Admittedly, I'm a Wolfman and Perez fan, that took a step back to appreciate the Classic Haney Teen Titans. So, I'm definitely curious to see where things go from here. Thing is, I'm also wondering how long they will be able to captivate attention. Then, of course, there's the question of the Justice League. Are they gone for good? Or is this something along the lines of Bruce, Clark and Diana taking a year off; or Bruce recovering from a broken back? I followed, with interest, Robinson's "Justice Titans" until it made way for The New 52. I'm cautiously optimistic.

The art is enjoyable. Hopefully Tom Taylor pick up the pace just a bit. So far, I'm hooked with the mystery cliffhanger.

    Titans 1 earns four stars.
